You missing the point, the "Wet dream" is that EV's mean the nation in question can import far less Hydro carbons, eg using "Green" local produced power to charge them.....balance of payments

So they won't be importing oil to run the cars. Instead they'll be dialing up the power plants to 11 to try to keep all the vehicles charged. Burning what? Manure? Fairy dust?

So what flavour of Kool-Aid are you drinking Mike?
The largest energy source for incremental power generation in the years ahead, by far, will be natural gas. If a country has its own gas reserves it will have an advantage. If it doesn't it's going to be importing a lot of LNG.
There is absolutely no other way to make the numbers work.

2019 annual gasoline consumption in the US
142 billion gallons
Energy in a gallon of gasoline = 120 million Joules
So, energy from gasoline = 142.17 billion (gal/yr) x 120 million(J/gal) = 1.7 x 10^19 Joules gasoline
Looking up electrical consumption we find 15,201 PJ = 1.5 x 10^19 Joules electricity generated
So in the U.S, the energy used by the gasoline powered vehicles is about the same as all the electricity generated in the US.
It's probably fair to assume the gasoline fleet is mostly cars and light trucks, while the heavy duty fleet burns diesel.
To convert the whole US private auto fleet to EVs would require doubling the US electric system - generating plants, transmission, and distribution.
That's a tall order. For the market to do that organically will take a long time.

It's not impossible, it's just big and expensive. Similar to building the interstate highway system in the 20th century or the railroad system in the 19th.

Of course, the other way they can achieve this is by killing off half of us. I don't put it past them.
