There's almost nobody on earth, not even the saintly Greta, that lives (or can live) without the benefit of hydrocarbons. Clothing, agriculture, mineral extraction and processing, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, plastics (suddenly in fashion again, given the need for sterile, single use food containers & medical disposables to deal with COVID...imagine that ) and so many other things even the truly deluded take for granted.

From the aluminum and steel bodies to the plastic bumpers, the copper wiring with plastic insulation, the batteries under the floor and the acres of glass, there's probably not a single material used to make a Tesla car that doesn't use hydrocarbons somewhere in its production chain.

We are hearing a great deal today about how "oil is dead", "peak demand", and how we can remake the global economy with a much lower carbon footprint. Some of the green economy cohort have been claiming that the (very temporary) oil glut and the 2-day negative price print is proof positive that we don't need the stuff and we are at the end of the oil era.

I made a post on this forum pre-COVID lockdown that there was a case to made for $80 oil. Now I think that is inevitable. If we aren't there by Christmas 2021, we'll be well along that path. And I fully expect the same green cohort to be bleating about how the shortage of oil and the high price are proof positive that it's the end of the age of oil, and it should be replaced with "cheaper" renewables.

Global average consumption in 2nd Q 2020 will be about 83.5 million bbls per day.
Production is still higher than consumption so inventories are continuing to build, but slowly now.
COVID is the wild card (when do the planes start flying again??).
But we will likely be ~90+ million bbls per day average consumption for full year 2020 (compared to ~101 million bbls per day worldwide in 2019)

It is the supply destruction worldwide that is setting the stage for the next up cycle in price.
And no amount of wishful thinking about green energy, renewables, EVs and such is going to change the fundamentals that are driving this now.

WE need to get these assholes round a table:-

1. Explain to them what is & is NOT possabile
2. Kill Tesla, or make them so unprofitable they die
3. Force the government green subs to go
4. Force the political types to agree to a "Route map/ Time table".
5, Agree that all "normal" Gas engines will die, however Low Carbon vechicales (Two stroke hybrids) are fine

Getting back to Tesla, have you noticed something?
The Model S & X & Y & Model 3 were all designed some years ago......then over 500 people left inclunding his styling team.
What does he turn up with after this......?...............the Cypertruck!

Something that was the worse lash up I ever seen, even KIDS could have done better than that!

I think the tide has turned, his build Q & customer service is very poor, but he was the only show in town.............not for much longer
