    With VW coming from below & Ford attacking on the level I think Musk is in for a hard time. Sure he trying to get the pick up going (GM likely to beat him to the punch on that).

    If he was a real company he be in deep sh1t, but as we know he is not.......as Trump said himself Elon is "Protected" how many times has Auto-crash, Sorry...Auto-pilot crashed?.............if he was Honda or Ford etc they in court the next day. As for build Q, the cars are falling apart in front of their customers...even Fiat/Lotus would be shocked by this.

    Nope, those behind Musk must be delighted, the "Plan" worked!

    Can you have this car now?...I think you can't....
    A car that does not exist yet won't compete with Tesla's hundreds of thousands of them running on the roads.
    Maybe some day. For now Tesla is king.

        AS for Telsa, people will cheerfully wait for their normal car producers to offer EV's.
        Might not be as quick but not far off & a lot cheaper & better built!

        Also, by this time next year Blighty will have 4 million unemployed (if not more) levels not seen since the early 80's
        Those with the cash for a Tesla play thing will have already bought it......fashion will have moved on for those with cash.


        This is on sale now, with in 18 months a new cheaper but more energy dense battery pack arrives, this will power a faster version.
        The stock 135 bhp motor + new battery pack will go in the new Astra Which will cost £27,000 ish.......but large government grants will reduce that & large taxes will force large firms to buy them in place of the company car turbo diesel

          Seriously? When did Elon Musk and Tesla EVER deliver a car model on time? You can put a deposit on a "Cybertruck" now. How many years do you think you're going to have to wait to get it?

          Since inception in 2012 Tesla has delivered less than 1 million cars. That's less than 2 months of output for General Motors alone.

          The Tesla remains an expensive luxury bauble for a limited audience. In the the first quarter of 2020 Tesla delivered ~88,000 vehicles. That's 4 days of average GM output.

          Mike is correct. As Ford and the other mass manufacturers get their products out into the market Tesla will need to fight for market share. As nice as they are, Teslas are just too expensive for most people to own. The Ford Mach-e SUV may not be quite the technology packed toy with 'Falcon' rear doors the Tesla Model X is, but it will handily outsell it at its price point and performance. And if someone does dent a fender it won't take six months to get the part to fix it.

          What will be really interesting to watch is how Tesla responds. Elon Musk is one of those brilliant people with a brain wired not quite like most of us. Expect something completely unexpected.

                The Ford Mach-e is the first battery EV that I might seriously consider owning. I agree, the dealer service network is part of the attraction. And the GT Performance model is bloody fast.

                As is typical, once it gets the model established in the market, Ford will come out with a limited edition ultra performance model that will deliberately be faster than the Tesla X. A 21st century version of the GT-40 vs Ferrari competition. You can just see that coming.

                  Nasty, dirty smelly .............The head of Lotus cars as been talking, the next Elise will be Lotus's last ICE car, after that it will be EV's only

                    Mike, you know full well whatever Lotus is doing is not a reflection of the automotive market as a whole. Low volume, specialty sports car makers can run EV science projects as much as they want. Virtually nobody who owns a Lotus depends on it for the daily commute, buying groceries or getting the kiddies to school. And you can bet almost all of them have a second vehicle, probably ICE, for the real driving in the family.

                    The only way "critical mass" will be reached is when Ford and Chevy can sell an EV with reasonable range and amenities comparable to an ICE car at the same price. The idiot govt subsidies are still making the market right now.

                      "They" have gone for EV's.............The Car producers begged them to go for CNG......they were told "No".

                      I think they bought into the Green power wet dream, but "They" are no longer doing the Petro-$ & not giving money to Russia.....

                          I calculated I need 700 wh/per litre ...the best battery packs give 280 right now................so, 5-10 years before I get one.

                            What "They" want is for everyone to have a EV that charges at home, they also like to know how much power is in your EV then store/draw has it suits them.

                            ................you pay for their "convenience"...............remember they trying to win the "Great game" & its not going well for them
