Shit driving seats, set very high .....I note they tried to save money everywhere!
Yes with rear wheel drive its quick to 60 mph, well it needs to be because it can't crack a ton (100 mph) & they asking almost (with extra's) £40,000 !!!!
I noticed with EV's at higher speeds (70-90mph) the battery starts to lose charge rapid style!......I seen some read out showing 6-9 miles range lost for every mile travelled on the Freeway (no re-gen).


Can't help think that a lower rung model 3 would be a better choice, I hope VW have a plan because I don't see this being a run a way suscess for them.

Oh & they couldn't fix the software faults.............so please buy a very expensive car that's been chucked onto the market before VW finished the R+D

Saving the planet isn't cheap Mike. Tesla can't really cut the price of the 3 much more. Remember how long it was before one could actually buy the mythical $35,000 Model 3? VW should do okay.

But the poor seats are noted. My first car was a 1968 Beetle Deluxe. The seats in that economy car were unbelievably good for someone my size. What one would expect of the Germans, and infinitely better than anything the Japanese were making at that time.

Good points, but Musk is talking to China ref importing model 3 into Europe, also you heard him talk about the "Million mile battery".......this appears to be a Lithium ion phosphate battery..........which has no cobalt thus is 20-30% cheaper, but its 25% less engery dense .......what if Musk built a cheap model 3....yes heaver battery but a lot cheaper together with Chinese volume/labour?

A poor mans version of the full model 3?

They need a battery 4-5 times more energy dense & stable over a large temp range

Samsung's solid state battery is a silver-carbon composite. Another use for silver.

I add a heat pump & a smaller more efficient motor, top speed 110 mph. 0-60 8-9 secs.........get more range from the lower performance battery.

Have to make a few changes to the exterior so people would NOT get confused between performance model.
Also reduced options for this model like Auto-crash, sorry Auto Pilot.

Depending on China to make an economical EV for import to Europe seems a VERY risky strategy. The EU is going to do everything it must to protect the German, French, Italian and Spanish car making industry. There's no way a cheap Chinese car is going to be easily allowed into Europe or the UK. Especially now with the sentiment towards China so negative.

Besides Musk is building a plant in Germany so maybe some sort of "managed" arrangement to export expensive German made Teslas to China in exchange for cheap-azz Teslas imported into Europe might be possible - but it will take getting national governments + the Eurocrats in Brussels on board. And if Tesla is allowed to do it then VW will also want to import cheap cars from its Chinese manufacturing plant too. See where all this goes...

The expensive EV's will not do well (not BWM/Audi/Merc) but if they can arrive at the party with a inexpensive EV then European producers are in BIG troubles....
