But I can't do it. My fear is if he were to get a 2nd term, he would take it as a vindication for his worst impulses and let fly without restraint. Can't vote for Biden, either. Unless someone offers me a candidate who, at a minimum, has a working frontal cortex, I'm sitting this one out.

The Democratic party has supported gun control for 50 years. They also support BLM. A large number of their black constituents are finally tired of being unarmed victims. They're joining gun rights groups, buying guns and training with them like never before. It's about time! Suddenly the Democratic party is in a position where one of their major constituent groups and one of their main platforms are at odds. How do you think they'll respond?

Re: The Violence thread
Having watched Victor Hanson Davis I agree with his thoughts.
Its not the DNC as such, but the radical left that are pissed that they didn't get Berie x 2.
The DNC are in a "1968" situation & what we seeing is a form leftist terrorist action.
If you recall the early 70's the left went for a "peaceful Weather men" bombing campaign .......althought they had a little local difficulty when they blew themselves up in that New York town house mishap............& thank God they did. If they had done the bombing they planned the bloodshed would have been shocking bad.
If you look at the what you in the early 70's they break down into 2 groups.
Working Class:- BBP/IRA etc.....people with perhaps some legit grievance
Upper class:- Weather/SLA.....Mostly white rich kids playing at revolution
................& Charles Manson & crazy gang?
Helter Shelter ........just what these assh0les are trying to do today, push people till there is a reaction

Originally posted by shiny! View PostThat's quite a proposition, jk. For me to vote Democrat will depend largely on their positions on gun control and trade agreements. Hillary's support for gun control and the Trans-Pacific Partnership and Trump's opposition to these things was my main reason for voting for him. Biden will support anything new that comes along resembling the TPP.

Re: The Violence thread
Thursday night, protestors vandalized and toppled a bronze statue of George Washington in Portland, OR. They covered the statue with grafitti, wrapped an American flag around its head, lit the flag on fire, then toppled and pissed on it.
CBS news and MSN reported this as the culmination of a day of peaceful protest. No one was arrested for vandalism.
The City of Portland removed the statue with no plans to restore it. The director of the Regional Arts and Cultural Council said the statue causes harm.
This is no longer about protesting racism. This feels like the early stages of Mao's Cultural Revolution, Cambodia's Khmer Rouge, Stalin's purges, the Brownshirts, the Taliban blowing up ancient statues of Buddha.

Re: The Violence thread
Wouldn't be at all surprised if they turn up at the DNC convention. Will there even BE a convention?
Regardless of who wins the election (if there IS an election), neither losing side will respect the results. The political system based on civil political discourse is dead. We're in civil war now.

Re: The Violence thread
I think the DNC would LOVE not to have a Convention, might very well use the Virus as an excuse not to.
They lost "Posative-control" of the Hard Left whom WANT a FIGHT as badly as these did in 68.......They WANT control of the DNC.

Re: The Violence thread
Last night at 8:00 PM, 400 I won't call them protesters, I'll call them [CENSORED] tore down a statue of Ulysses S. Grant in Golden Gate Park. They also tore down statues of Francis Scott Key and St. Junipero Serra. Police were present during the vandalism but no arrests were made. Again, WHY?
This looks like an urge for total destruction running amok, with the MSM singing Kumbaya and the police checking out. Can't say I blame the police at this point. Cops on an individual basis are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
In looking for a link to post I found the following very slick, professional quality video which is at the top of Youtube search results. This video took time and funding to make. It had to have been prepared ahead of time. It even mentions today's tweets by Adam Serwer (@AdamSerwer) which I saw a few minutes ago when I started to post this, but are now taken down. These protests are being carefully orchestrated by deep pockets.
This is orchestrated destruction of my country. Being slow to pick up on cultural references, only yesterday did I learn the meaning of 'Astroturfing.' This is it.

Re: The Violence thread
Its an all out attempt, like a storm...............but I agree with Victor Davis Hanson its not the DNC Old Guard, its the Radical left.
They are "fishing" trying to provoke a reaction.......we all need to understand that this is over after the Election, if they try to do an "1968" at the DNC Trump will win hands down....Milwaukee, Wisconsin is this a Blue State" ?

Former Facebook executive: social media is ripping society apart
A former Facebook executive has said he feels “tremendous guilt” over his work on “tools that are ripping apart the social fabric of how society works”, joining a growing chorus of critics of the social media giant.
Chamath Palihapitiya, who was vice-president for user growth at Facebook before he left the company in 2011, said: “The short-term, dopamine-driven feedback loops that we have created are destroying how society works. No civil discourse, no cooperation, misinformation, mistruth.”
The remarks, which were made at a Stanford Business School event in November, were just surfaced by tech website the Verge on Monday.
“This is not about Russian ads,” he added. “This is a global problem. It is eroding the core foundations of how people behave by and between each other.”
Palihapitiya’s comments last month were made a day after Facebook’s founding president, Sean Parker, criticized the way that the company “exploit[s] a vulnerability in human psychology” by creating a “social-validation feedback loop” during an interview at an Axios event.
Parker had said that he was “something of a conscientious objector” to using social media, a stance echoed by Palihapitiya who said that he was now hoping to use the money he made at Facebook to do good in the world.
“I can’t control them,” Palihapitiya said of his former employer. “I can control my decision, which is that I don’t use that shit. I can control my kids’ decisions, which is that they’re not allowed to use that shit.”
He also called on his audience to “soul-search” about their own relationship to social media. “Your behaviors, you don’t realize it, but you are being programmed,” he said. “It was unintentional, but now you gotta decide how much you’re going to give up, how much of your intellectual independence.”
