      Re: Spot on

I don't usually watch long videos but I watched the whole thing, Mike.

Can't disagree with them about the harm caused by social isolation and social distancing to our immune systems and psyches. We evolved to be strong as individuals and as a species by challenging our immune systems through dirty, germy human contact on a daily basis. Without that daily contact our immune system weakens.

They mentioned (and I agree) that good nutrition might be key to why some of us fight it off while others succumb.

OTOH, I have reservations about their assertions regarding herd immunity as fact. They might be right, might be wrong. If someone survives Covid-19, how long does their immunity last, if it lasts at all? The speakers kept comparing it to chicken pox, but it isn't chicken pox. Let's compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges. We don't know enough yet about how this virus mutates or if it could go dormant in the body then resurge. So I don't know what to believe about herd immunity, and IMO no one else does, either. Without facts we believe what we want to believe, but belief is the enemy of Truth.

Making sweeping generalities about the immune system always rising to the occasion is also a logical fallacy. No one says that about Ebola. But this isn't Ebola, thank god. If it had been, I shudder to think how our healthcare system would have (not) coped!

OTOH, staying in quarantine will only make the immune system weaker, so prolonged quarantine is a dangerous solution even if we CAN'T build up herd immunity. Probably better to just go out there and take our chances before our new phobia of others becomes insurmountable.

They made an interesting point about masks actually weakening the body's defenses. On Monday I went somewhere public where I had to wear a mask for an extended period of time. Breathing through that mask was strenuous hard work. I came home totally exhausted from the effort, and oxygen deprived from 90 minutes of inhaling carbon dioxide trapped inside that mask. So I'm not sure what to think about masks now. They DO help prevent the spread, but they also create problems in their own right.

Like Woody says, the goalposts keep moving. First it was to "flatten the curve" so that the hospitals wouldn't be overwhelmed. We complied with good grace and practically destroyed our lives in the process. Most of the hospitals were not and are not overwhelmed. They have capacity. So stay-at-home should end. Some of us will get sick and die. Most will not. Just like the old days before we falsely believed that perfect safety in life was an achievable goal.

But now they want to prevent anyone and everyone from ever catching it. This is virtually impossible unless we're all shut tight in our homes and controlled constantly when outside. Which is terribly convenient for governments. They need massive social restrictions in place to pre-emptively shut down revolution when the 99% realize how badly they've been screwed again. Why do it by bloody force if they can make us do it voluntarily?

This whole thing has played out like psyops on steroids. Security Theatre writ large. That is not an accident. Opportunistic, but not an accident. Don't believe me? Did we have this level of fearmongering and restriction for the Hong Kong flu in 1968? NO! It's enough to make me want to resist, even if it means my death.

We're now being told that this will be the new normal until we have a vaccine? Never in the history of ever has a vaccine been developed for a coronavirus. Why is now any different? Do we stay locked down forever?

What if they do pull it off? Mandatory vaccination for everyone?

The latest rescue bill authorizes agents to test us against our will. Think about that.

      "KNOCK, KNOCK!
We're from the government. We're here to probe your body cavities. You must submit. Your body is not yours anymore! The Bill of RIghts is just a quaint historical artifact, and the 4th of July is only about fireworks, which from now on you'll have to watch from the safety of your living room." Ayn Rand's Anthem isn't sounding so science-fiction-y now.

Governments are not in the habit of grabbing power during an emergency then voluntarily giving it up when the emergency is over. They simply declare a constant state of emergency.

We've been creeping (and then galloping) towards this day ever since 9/11, if not before. I refuse to fly because I'm not giving the TSA or anyone else the "right" to do a body cavity search on me. I see no difference here.

TPTB are exploiting our primal desire to live. We are being manipulated now from every corner.

Dave Matthews Band's first album was called Remember Two Things. Here are my two things:

None of us are getting out of this life alive.

No one can manipulate me as long as I don't want anything.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
