Re: For GRG55
The most spectacular race car driver of his era. Still a legend today, despite the brief career at the top level of racing.
I was at that 1981 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. Villeneuve got to the podium in 3rd place.
One of my brothers was living and working in Montreal at that time and an entourage of my crazy engineering friends would make the trek every year. Back then the Montreal race was held in September, and damn near every year it was wet and cold. Formula One finally got smart and moved the race to June for the following year, seeking better conditions. I was really looking forward to watching Gille race on his home country circuit on a dry track in tee-shirt weather.
With my best friend from engineering college I drove my 240Z all the way from Canada to California at the end of March 1982 for the F1 race on the Long Beach street course. Villeneuve and Keke Rosberg put on a fabulous show mid-race battling for 4rth place. Three overtakes in less than 2 laps, with Villeneuve running Rosberg down on the Shoreline Drive straight, to win back 4rth, only to lose it again at the same set of corners on the next lap. Here's a video clip of what happened on the next lap when Villeneuve almost lost the car at the end of Shoreline Drive - and still managed to hold on to 5th, behind Rosberg when he got it lined back up.
He finished 3rd, but Ferrari was disqualified for a controversial rear wing set-up. That was his last North American race and 34 days later he was gone. The Ile Notre-Dame circuit where the Canadian Grand Prix is held was named in Villeneuve's memory at the June race.

Re: For GRG55
I recall he had a BIG falling out with his team mate (P something?) didn't yield the race before & Villeneuve was pissed.
The deal had been he would, & Villeneuve mind was awash with emoltion .....can't help thinking it played a part in what happened.

Re: For GRG55
So, the car producers are telling the finance company what the car is going to be worth.......but that was before the recession & now the Virus!
Its simple going to be a Bloody bath pure & simple......They were effectively paying people to "Buy" their cars......Shocking!!!
& its not just small producers either.....Landrover & BMW.....Merc & Audi...........
