"Prof Powis is asked whether an Imperial College London study released today showing there may be as few as 5,700 deaths in the UK is in line with Government modelling.
"The Imperial academic group and a number of other academic groups are providing some of the science underpinning," he said.
"The number of deaths that arise out of this epidemic in the UK, if it's less than 20,000, that would be a good result.
"But we shouldn't be complacent about that...it will only happen if we stop the transmission of the virus.
"It doesn't happen by luck; it's not just chance."
