When the capital markets finally withdraw support.
Tesla is the poster child of loss making companies requiring constant injections of fresh capital.

i bought some in the money puts on tesla a while ago as a way of going short, but then decided to get rid of them after the market had a sell off but tesla held up pretty well. it's hard to short a cult. eventually it will fail, but as grg says it will keep going as long as its devotees are willing to front it more money. and as with any religious beliefs, only extreme circumstances will cause them to be questioned by the true believers.

I don't want to go "Alex Jones" here, but I think Tesla is a storking horse for "They".

The West knows that they are living on borrowed time (& debt).......at some point the $/West is not going to be the driving force on this earth

Its been a long time coming but may be we almost there?...............

"They" know that the rest of the World is going to demand REAL wealth as payment for goods & services (like Gold). The West is a busted Flush & has little real wealth so what to do?

"They" could send their Armed forces in to steal wealth, but that has not worked out well......
"They" could try to get Russia on board.......that failed
"They" could try to us China against Russia......that failed.
"They" could try India, but India is hooked up with Russia/Iran.....they don't see the West as a future, just a rather bad past.

"They" options are looking bleak, they are now trying to cut a deal & start to "inform" populations that they need to stop spending & using vast amounts of Hydro-carbons
"They" can't bring themselves to tell the people the truth, thus we have a War On Plastic (Hydrocarbons) & Climate change (Hydro-carbons)......."They" are also trying to sell the fairy tales of CC to the masses to hide the REAL facts.

Getting closer, but not there yet.............Tesla are a common on our UK motorway network, but boy do they drive funny.

They do EVERYTHING to not use power, cruze JUST under the uk limt (70mph) most others 85-90 mph.....no sudden acc...........am told with winter, wind cold & wet (thus lights/wipers/heating) ranges not much over 65 miles!!! unless freshly charged

                  Why is China "helping" Tesla?

Same reason as always. So they can access the IP through reverse-engineering, coercsion, theft, or whatever other means is necessary (including arresting an expatriate Tesla executive or two if that's what it takes).

One thing I am reasonably certain of: Tesla may sell a lot of cars in China, but the Chinese government will make sure they never make any money from any of them.

Frankly, if there ultimately is a logical buyer for Tesla it's probably one of the Chinese State-owned vehicle manufacturers.

"The Porshe Taycan is not a half-azzed effort".

I'll say! The first electric car I will admit to lust after.
But, but, but, WTF is with the seats in back? The odd looking Panamera wasn't enough?
At least this time Porsche's design team has done a hell a job disguising the four doors and those back seats. It looks better and more classic in blue than in refrigerator white imo.

Finally a serious electric sports car that doesn't look like an oddball electric car.
Everything the Tesla Roadster should have been, but wasn't.
Shows what a company with development capital can really do.

I agree with them. Doing the sports car instead of an SUV was brilliant.
Limited production, high margin, very status conscious buyers that are less price sensitive than many SUV buyers. And it's a beautiful piece of body sculpture with a ton of "WOW" factor.

Tesla had a hit with the gorgeous Model S. Then they screwed up with the odd looking SUV with the funny, flapping rear doors. And now they are trying to churn out "everyman" non-descript Model 3s. Unlike, say Apple, which came up with beautiful, brilliant new products one after the other, there is no "wow" factor left in Tesla. A one hit wonder imo.
