Big Brother has a dot com and an ® after his name in America. And he charges the police $10 per license plate. But he's tracking your car and taking your picture and feeding the info to them all the same.Comment

They are well past that here; every vehicle has their number plate scanned, in most locations where there are large vehicle movements. Do not need a vehicle licence disc on the car, all they need is to scan the number plate and send out the fine if not on record. Now, the law does not need ANY human input; just keep the scans coming into the computer system. Job done! Once face recognition improves, every activity will be similarly scanned and the law will become entirely the province of software and electronics.Comment

They do that with tolling here now. And the private credit ratings agencies have them in most commercial parking lots. Maybe worse, they don't care if they sell it to the law or to private players, they just want money. So for the cost of getting a private detective's license, you can pretty much stalk anyone's movements in the United States you want to. Better yet, spin up a website and claim you're operating based out of Alaska or some other state with no licensing requirements. Pretty remarkable. Given the money Amazon's making on selling the face rekognition stuff, I figure it's only a matter of time until they'll let anyone paying a few bucks turn on the microphone on your phone or smart speaker and listen into you at home. Why not?Comment
