Re: They didn't lie to you. Every bit of this was obvious from the get go.

When i was a little boy i watched a "Dark skinned" man ask me to be so good has to judge someone by the contant of their character, not the colour of their skin....MLK words have never left me. I detest this race bate nonsence, its nothing to do with that & everything to do with being ruled by Germany. Too many people have died to give me freedom, its a gift & its not for me lose it.

I hope Poland is with us on this one:-

I listen to this podcast regularly about this:

EU policies have resulted in rampant homelessness and mass immiseration. The EU is an anti-democratic institution with much to dislike about it. The fact is though that the Irish have opted for reform rather than withdrawal and you whining about being made an example of after pushing the Brexit button yourself is just too rich.

The problem you have with The Four Freedoms is that "darkies" might move in next door. You like having access to the EU markets, but not those dark skinned people. I hope they throw the book at you.
The Irish where hardest hit in the financial crisis as they positioned themselves as a tax haven off the EU by offering a lower tax rate to international companies who could situate their pretend head offices there and syphon off all their EU profits by paying minimal or no tax in the EU country they generated the profit in and less tax in Ireland. Clearly it's not the best long term way to run your economy and raise revenue and that is why Ireland are "solidly behind the Eu project" as all the fake head offices will evaporate overnight if they leave.

I'm not sure which 'darkies' you are thinking of in Europe? I think the other fake race of people irrespective of skin colour is perceived as much higher risk. Fake because the PC brigade of lefties/liberals scream racist if anyone mentions anything other than praise for them but you can't assign race by religious belief so it can't be racist but obviously you can't tell a leftie they are wrong.

Mike do you really think if we had the hardest of Brexits, that Germany and France would still not have sway over this small Island.
It seems that some people are still stuck in fighting the last war.

With-out the bargaining power of the European bloc I do not believe we will get better trade deals, and I don't want to be eating un-labled food stuffs from the USA to get a trade deal.

Give it a decade or two when the bankruptcy policies of populism runs it course we will be begging to join Europe Union, just like in the early 70's.

To me, the real lost opportunity of Brexit for the UK was the total lack of negotiation or attempt to gain concessions. There was clearly an opportunity to shake up / reform the whole EU. "We're leaving unless you make it better!" Then comes the list of demands. If the demands weren't met well enough, could always still go. But at least it was a shot to make the whole thing better, more accountable, less-poorly-designed. But nobody even tried to use the leverage.

And this next part's a bit tinfoil, but I'll say it here anyways: Then there's the weirdness of UKIP. Been a party since '91 but in 2014 it pops up huge out of nowhere. Money rains on it out of nowhere. Busts up the EU in 2016, then immediately folds to almost nothing again in 2017. From ~1-2% of the vote to suddenly 12-13% of the vote for just one election, back down to ~1-2%. Has any other party in British history ever done this? Libdems stay in the ~8%-25% range mostly in the last 100 years since Labour has been a force. But seeing a party that got a couple hundred thousand fringe votes in the 2010 general election suddenly get 4 million votes in 2015 only to drop back to a couple hundred thousand fringe votes again in 2017 is unprecedented insofar as I can tell.

Plus, lots of same actors, Cambridge Analytica, Mercers, Bannon, Banks, Yakovenko all floating around both Farage and Trump. I've said it before on a dozen unrelated matters here, but my instinct is to follow the maxim of Crassus and always ask, "Cui Bono?" "Who Benefits?" when I don't have all the information and I'm trying to figure out what's going on. It's not fool-proof. But I think it gets you a little better than random chance. And who benefits most in the world from Brexit? Probably the guy in the middle of carving up Ukraine who's trying to smash NATO and the EU so he can carve up the Baltics too. Like I said, unproven. Tinfoil. And I don't think Russian Intelligence typically starts these things. They just see fires burning the way they like and throw gasoline on them with money and organization. The biggest political donation in UK history came with UKIP. And the US' 2010 decision to no longer limit or even really track money in Politics opened up a cornucopia of opportunities there.

              I agree............we being played

There was little real presure for the leave vote, the last Prime Minster suddenly caved in & gave them the vote, which was unexpected. Given the "Trump era" we now live in i was not shocked when we won the vote, in fact i expected us to win by a bigger margin. As i see it Germany is being let off the lead to rule Europe once again.

Britan, airstrip one is differant.......they going to join the "B5" America, Oz, NZ, Canada & Blighty........sort of Anglo-Saxion gang.

Picking over the bones of this...........i think what happened was a total mis-match in what people expected & what was possabile. The goverment over promised, then found it tricky to back down.............till they had to. I was outraged, but i wonder if my outrage was with the powers to be or like my for fathers i had to see that Britan is simply not a Great power any more.

WE simply can't "demand" with the ECCP when it, its self is under attack from with in.
