as i said above, that's terrible in so many ways. otoh, it shows what happens when a doctor's actions are driven by something other than rationality.

i hope there were no bad health consequences for you, i.e. you were "merely" exploited or misused in some way but suffered no permanent harm at the hands of those assholes.

Same here. Almost to the point of death.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

His models seems a bit way off.
More likely between 40,000 to 100,000.

Science and most rational thought has been dead on this site for several years. You are arguing for the idea of rational thought and decency in US medicine with the damaged, the irrational and the proud and unapologetic progeny of slave holders. Good luck with that one. They don't solve problems they invent them and blame others for their plight. They have no mirror and no existence without you taking the time to defend your position for decency and rational thought so they can tear it down bit by bit. Your ideas are rational, decent, honorable and ripe for trolling. Perfect fodder.

I have an opening next week if you'd like to discuss....

And now back to our program...As for the strong US dollar, I think it has a much better chance than you have influencing anyone on this thread to be rational, mindful, thoughtful or interesting.

Santafe, what an incredibly small-minded post.

JK's objection to my comment, which you quoted, was quite a reasonable one. Doctors are, of course, diverse and shouldn't be painted with such a broad brush, even if my personal experience in working with doctors has been more often than not a negative one. But then you took that comment and applied it every bit as broadly to the people who frequent this website and post on it, and then you took it to a much higher level.

If you want people to focus on your statistical analysis, as you argued to Woodsman just a few posts ago, do you think you are accomplishing your goal with this ad hominem attack against iTulip members?

Time's short and there are infinitely more valuable things that one might waste it on then that gentleman.

fwiw, i didn't take santafe's comment as meant for you, kbird, although he quoted my response to you.

                        .
actually yesterday afternoon i came to the same conclusion and put woodsman on "ignore." he occasionally has interesting things to say, but as much as i tried to have a civil conversation, it ultimately just elicited schoolyard taunts. [reminds me of a prominent public figure]

as for the behavior of doctors, i am sincerely appalled to hear of people's bad experiences. otoh, i think the health workers who are going to work at the hospital every day, in spite of what i consider inadequate ppe, are truly heroes, risking themselves to help others.

i saw what was coming fairly early, and in early feb ordered a dozen high quality p100 masks along with replacement filters and eye protection, intending to send most of it to my children. upon learning that local hospital workers were only getting recycled n95's [let alone n or p 100's] if they were doing aerosol producing procedures like intubations, a few days ago i donated my hoard to the hospital. they need it more than i.

as for your opening next week, i think i'm ok for now, but i'll keep it in mind.

You've been ignoring reality for the last 1000 days, at least. So what difference does it make? To you or to me?

I might ask on precisely what basis you could imagine that you possess any inkling of my "self" even to ask such a question, dread? But thank you for your concern, in any case.
