Re: Mega:- Have i killed Itulip?

    no.

causes for the quiet, imo, in no particular order:

    1. withdrawal of ej from active participation because of:
    .............a. full time in virzoom,
.............b. stated lack of ability to analyze artificially managed markets after the financial crisis of '08.

    2. lack of ability to analyze artificially managed markets limits useful discussion by all other members as well.

    3. destructive, hostile interactions during the '16 american presidental election.

there are still occasional interesting interactions, but they are few and far between.

Lots of topics to discuss: Blockchain has and is being discussed.

We need a lot more on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computers, as well as other rapidly developing technologies. Our world is changing far more rapidly than we can comprehend.

Not yet. Keep working on it. It takes time. Try using more misspelled words and praising child rapist Nazis more. Oh, and don't forget insulting women! That one should work!

I fully respect these reasons to quit (speaking in practical terms) his site. The only thing I'd like from his is to know if he still favours holding gold or believes it is better to sell. FWIW, I have recently sold mine, so I am not speaking for personal interest.

You sold the gold to buy stocks?

No, I simply sold. I have cash now and probably I will buy real state. I live in Spain. Here prices are just beginning to rise.

Let me give you my two cents on this.

This is an article explaining that gold is super energy intensive to extract:
                    https://srsroccoreport.com/gold-mini...e-in-a-decade/

The doubling time for the cost of the fuel required to extract an oz of gold is about 7 to 8 years. This means that even if fuel costs stay about where they are it will soon be uneconomic to extract gold at current prices. Mining companies have fallen on hard times. Barrick for example is trading near the price it started at 30 years ago. This means that they have almost certainly been high grading ore. Gold has gone from ~17 times the price of the diesel used to extract it to about ~12x in 2013 and I'm going to assume has continued to require more diesel to extract since. This cannot continue forever. Something has to give.

I got this chart from a guy on Youtube called belangp. He has a terrific channel you should check out.

What this shows is that the peak oil thing we have been talking about for a while hit in about 2015. By 2025 we should see a 15% drop in world oil production.

I'm betting that even with the collapse in oil prices I expect this year, that gold will continue to rise.

i am increasingly persuaded by luke gromen's case for a declining usd. thus i continue to hold 20% gold [in the form of the fund phys], as well as about 12% in [combined] dsum, cny, fxy, fxe.

from the little i know, otoh, i think spanish real estate is probably a really good investment right now.

Nope Mega, the shepard is away from the flock.

I agree that it's hard to forecast a manipulated market.

We are getting close to the time when debt in the US can not be rolled over into new debt at a lower rate. That could make things interesting.

I believe that since the financial crisis, politics has played a bigger role in influencing the markets rather than economics. The win by Donald Trump has a bigger impact on the markets than economics alone.

What Americans don't realize is that because of the glory seeking Obama and Clinton, the world is gradually moving towards dictatorship and possibly WWIII.

The chaos of the Arab Spring has provided justification to authoritarian rule throughout the world.

It remains to be seen whether Trump can undo the damage that Obama and Clinton has made.
