F14 v f15 ?

Am told Iran back in day were offered either F14 or F15...............as it was i think it was only Iran who used the Phoenix missile in anger. ............i always wondered which would be the better close in fight?

I always heard tales that the F4 Phantom was beaten easy by the F8.............so did the navy & air-force ever have a "Face off?"

I know lots of you guys are into aircraft so i thought i ask?

my father worked at grumman, which made the f14. he told a story that was going around about f14 vs f15. he said 2 naval f14's were flying when 2 airforce f15's appeared on their tails. the f14 had a variable wing sweep: the f14's pilots extended their wings to slow down while simultaneously each executed a loop. they then were on the f15's tails.

Different planes different mission sets.

The F14 performed very well in the Iran Iraq War
