Mega losses his Dad

Its been a tough 10 days or so, but my Father has passed away in hospital.

He was 87 going on 88...............he was very active for his age....he returned home having walked the do for an hour or so. Was taken ill that eveing with some sort of chest infection......by the next morning he was clearly ill & the para-medics were called. They didn't seem too concerned & he been into hospital before in the last 18 months with much the same trouble.

Sadly this time he did not respond to treatment, his lungs collasped & he died a few days later............a void in my life has begun.

Mike, I'm so sorry for your loss.

My mother died in October, and we're still adjusting to our lives without her. I deal with loss for a living, and when a loss is this close, there is something I feel you need to hear: You will not get over it, but you will learn to live with it.

I think the problem was i lost sight of his age, Gordon was VERY active...........he drove & shopped every day, walked the Dog...quite some distance every day.

Very few blokes make 90, but there was no sign of any troubles...........its only after going though his medical history i see what was to come.

He been to hospital twice before, same chest infection...........1st time he was out in 3 days, then 18 months ago he went in again........the staff were concered, but after 10 days he came home. He could only just walk with a stick, but over the next month or so he began to return to full fittness.............i was shocked (& delighted) when i found him out with Bella..................he agreed to always take a cell phone with him just in case.

This time he simply did not respond to any treatment tried............

I try to focus on the good thoughts, he was active till he died.
He was a GREAT Father & was always there when i needed him, married to Mum for over 60 years....................a full & happy life.

My thanks to all......................had the service for him this morning.......i was ok till the coffin came in.
When we get his ashes back i take them to a field where we used to take Dogs & train them...........God Bless you Dad.
