      From the linked article

To support his theory, he went on to experimentally vary the value of ħ: the Planck constant,
I'm sorry, how does one experimentally vary a fundamental physical constant? Can we experimentally change the charge of an electron while we are at it? Jessica Hall, the author of the blurb, clearly has no idea what she is talking about.

In fact I sat up late last night to read through the paper Emergent Gravity and the Dark Universe http://arxiv.org/pdf/1611.02269v2.pdf

He keeps writing equations and then referring to them as "Fact" which I did find amusing; and the use of the phrase "surface mass density". It is quite an adventure in the use of language to describe a logical possibility as a fact.
"3.1 The glassy dynamics of emergent gravity in de Sitter space
The idea that emergent gravity has observational consequences at cosmological scales may be counter-intuitive and appears to be at odds with the common believe that effective field theory gives a reliable description of all infrared physics. With the following discussion we like to point out a loophole in this common wisdom. In short, the standard arguments overlook the fact that it is logically possible that the laws which govern the long time and distance scale dynamics in our universe are decoupled from the emergent local laws of physics described by our current effective field theories."

Overall, he has continued to make the same mistake that I recently spotted in Isaac Newton's Principia and has offered a seemingly confident solution to the structure of the universe based upon presenting complex mathematics and a very small number of, in my humble opinion, not very illustrative; illustrations.

For the record, I had hoped to have my new book available for Christmas, but during seeking approval for the many potential copyright issues, where I have used others work to illustrate some aspect of the underlying debate, someone had managed to damage the files in such a way as to make ~145 of the 216 illustrations unusable, some down to 66 dpi and then my attempts to correct the situation by upgrading my software resulting in making things worse. So I decided to take a rest over Christmas as I have to completely re-typeset the book, all 544 pages, (I cannot trust any of the existing files and have to take the whole thing right back to plain text, and re-scan all the illustrations into a clean file in a re-built clean machine and start again), and as such that will take at the least several months.

        Happy New Year!
