Re: The coming war with China

I certainly don't recall radiation testing on humans being part of the history lessons back in high school. But...yikes!

Re: The coming war with China

I had some spare time over the holidays and I watched the entire two hour video.
I does not make much of a case that war with China is likely.

Instead, most of the video describes the horrors of war in general, and the special horrors of nuclear war.
It opens by describing sickness in the Marshall Islands caused by nuclear testing, and the callous way the U.S. has treated those people.
It wanders around discussing the U.S. Empire, why it's bad and how it's promoted.

After nearly two hours, I was left with strong negative emotions but very little new knowledge.
It strikes me as a classic bit of emotional manipulation.
It's awful and empty, unless you want to feel more guilty about horrible things.

Re: The coming war with China

I don't see a conventional war with China ANY time soon.

In fact, the unconventional cyber war by China against the US(massive IP theft) seems to have been curtailed significantly in the last year.

i don't think the Chinese government is stupid enough to become involved in extended foreign military adventures.

They learned what NOT to do from the Russian Perestroika/Revolution, mission creep in Afghanistan, and the costly invasion of Iraq.

China just announced a significant reduction in its military headcount.

While it could be viewed as a another shift towards smaller higher tech Western professional military systems, head count reduction is a mixed positive indicator.

As I've stated for years, I safely assume the Chinese have plans in place for small bite sized foreign military adventures "Chinese Grenadas" to both test their smaller/more agile/more capable military forces, to satiate a need for nationalistic foreign distraction when compelled, and to communicate to the world in a short/sharp/safe/acceptable way that The world is back to being multipolar.

The US will not go to war over Taiwan or the Spratleys.

Power and influence is being shaped via examples like Philippines' Duterte ping ponging from fast improving US military relations in order to mitigate Chinese regional expansionism right to closer ties with China as if a deal with China was struck behind closed doors.

I believe Asia-Pacific is going to be influenced far, far more by economic factors than military peacocking.
