Re: Trump picks ..............Goldman Sacs
Good job Mega. i was right about to post this
From the article:
Mr. Mnuchin’s Wall Street pedigree presents a stark contrast with the populist themes Mr. Trump struck in his campaign, railing against big banks and vowing to close tax loopholes that benefit hedge funds. Mr. Trump also repeatedly attacked his rivals in the primary and general elections for their Wall Street ties, especially those connected to Goldman Sachs.
In 2002, Mr. Mnuchin left Goldman and later was hired to run a credit fund set up by billionaire George Soros.
In 2004, Mr. Mnuchin and two former Goldman colleagues founded hedge fund Dune Capital Management LP with financial backing from Mr. Soros.
the first thought that went through my head when hearing the news was....what would Trump supporters have said if Hillary had won, and appointed a guy like this as secretary of the treasury? A guy who not only is balls deep with wall street, but also an agent of Soros..the boogieman of the left. Who amongst you are willing to tell me with a straight face that Trump supporters would not have said something along the lines of "Typical crooked Hillary...giving favours to her buddies on wall street to give the big banks on wall street even more power, and a foot in the door for leftist propagandists and manipulators like George Soros". If Hillary won and made this guy her right hand man at the treasury, the sky would fall....so I'm looking forward to potentially seeing that happen here, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I won't be. Tbh, im really just here to see what the excuse will be this time. When i posted that his consideration of either this guy or Jamie Dimon was problematic, i got a bunch of blowback. Now that its finalized...I want to see what the mental gymnastics will look like.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

They throw the masses an odd bone, allow a passionate fight over Gay bathrooms or "expose" 1970's TV host as a Pedo (like a jet pilot dropping chaff)......but they face the "problem".
With advances in computer tec less & less people are required to work.........yet unemployment is a "Shameful" thing...at some point the people are going to want their share of new found productively.................i fear that the cash-less (they control everything you do) will be the trigger....

Another Goldman guy at Treasury.
While it might qualify as a disappointment, it is not a surprise and doesn't present much uncertainty.

I'm not implying Hillary's cabinet would have been any better, except maybe on the Medicare front. But Trump so far has taken a who's who list of nepotism, cronies and inherited incompetent relatives of billionaires and stacked the government leadership full of them.
The good news for those who care about renewables is that two of the billionaires he has chosen so far happen to have big stakes in some large, privately held, wind turbine components manufacturing plants here in the US. And one has a first-cousin who left his VP of Morgan Stanley role to bounce around as head of investment banking for various firms before founding a rather large wind-farm and solar development company.
In fact, if you start following the DeVos family around, I think you'll find that between the entities they own, they have more or less a vertical monopoly on every step of the renewable process, from original component material sourcing, down to hedging futures for energy produced 30 years from now. They're not the only game in town, but they are a big one. That doesn't make this chart. But the chart is useful for knowing a bit of the family and how they funnel money into politics:
