That's a new one. Any sources you care to share or is it just something we heard around the water cooler? Otherwise we're just muddying the waters and they're pretty opaque as it is.

The sudden "revelation" of a pneumonia diagnosis last Friday, after first saying she was just overheated, is probably because her condition is worsening. They need an excuse to keep her out of sight for longer.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

If she did have to drop out who would replace her? Kaine? He did get the VP nomination at the convention.

Biden or Warren? They didn't run and no one was able to vote for either in the primary.

Bernie? He did lose and Hillary supporters would be very upset.

dnc would pick a replacement candidate, most likely biden, while kaine would remain the vp candidate.

pneumonia usually isn't very contagious, but it causes severe illness and has a very long recovery period during which people have limited stamina. it's hard to see hillary making a decision to withdraw, however. very much not her style. she'd have to be very ill for a prolonged period and clearly unable to campaign for such a possibility to even get put on the table.

Re: Wot is wrong with her????

The problem with choosing another candidate is that they already chose this one. In order to get a do-over 50 days before the election, Clinton would have to decide for herself to leave as one of David Shuster's DNC sources reminds us.

Top dem: "we can make contingencies, argue, plead with @HillaryClinton, but DNC bylaws are clear her nominee status now totally up to her."
And who do we imagine has the degree of gravitas to give Hillary "the talk?" I doubt there would be a long list of potential volunteers willing to put their head on the block.
I doubt very much that she'll quit.

Moving forward, it might be easier for the parties to dispense with voters and just let the national committees and donors determine everything. It has the virtue of reflecting the reality that superdelegates and major donors are the primary constituencies and the only cohort that sees their interests addressed. Cut out the middle-man, so to speak.

I don't have a link right now, but I've seen some opinions going around
that Bernie would get it, based on DNC rules and the language used at
the convention. He never said "I concede". His delegates were counted.

It may just be wishful thinking from the Bernie base. And frankly, I
wouldn't count on the DNC following any "rules".

The funny thing is that Biden/Kaine would probably be a landslide victory. The Hillary campaign at this point is relying almost exclusively on the platform of "Trump bad". The political ads I'm starting to see in Ohio consist of nothing more than highlight reels of Donald Trump saying outrageous things like "I know more about ISIS than the generals do, believe me". It's pretty effective given the abundance of material.

The problem is it's hard to run as the "at least I'm better than him" candidate, when everything you say is a lie. She just can't stop lying. Her campaign says she overheated. Then she appears later acting like she is fine. Then the videos blow up of her looking like a ragdoll and they say Oh, she has pneumonia, guess we forgot to mention that.

My mother is about her age. If she had pneumonia, collapsed, and was carried into a van; I would hope that someone would take her to the hospital and not to my house. The whole story makes zero sense.

Still, the "robot" candidate collapses while metal pieces fall out of her pants? This election just keeps on giving in the entertainment department.
