Only Bush would do his happy dance at a memorial service.

Oh lord. The guy is "retarted," as was once said. An imbecile they wind up and set out to perform like some meat puppet. He should be dancing behind bars as an international war criminal. Smiling and dancing at a time like this.

You know it hearkens back to Bush the Elder's performance at Gerald Ford’s funeral on October 22, 2008 where he briefly flashed an unnerving smile and a visible, shoulder shuddering chuckle at the phrase “After a deluded gunman assassinated President Kennedy...”

He did similar at the 9/11 memorial. Bush the Second looked absolutely devastated. His eyes were red from crying. Sitting in the pew behind him was Bush the First, grinning and gladhanding with his old buddies as if he was at a high school reunion. Bush the Second is a dumb puppet. Bush the First is a puppet master.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

You reminded me of one of my favorite conspiracy theories. Bush senior was in Dallas. There are FBI memos stating that a George Bush of the CIA was in Dallas and there's a photograph. In poker, the smirk at Ford's funeral would be known as a tell.

Sheesh. Some people can't wait to slam their favorite targets for *anything*. Expectation bias.

I agree with the Atlantic, leave the guy alone.

They're right. It's unseemly to highlight the faux pas of mentally disabled and socially challenged persons with special needs.

I'm sorry for using the R-word, George. That was mean and hurtful and I was wrong to do it. Even if me and two-thirds of the rest of the human race is mad at the mess you made of the world, it does not excuse that sort of behavior. Just because millions of people have suffered and died because of your decisions, with thousands still suffering and dying at this very moment, well that doesn't give me the right to use bad words, especially towards someone so special like you. So please forgive me.

And please don't ask your covert ops friends to kidnap, torture and murder me and my loved ones. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Obama has shown disrespect at funerals. Notice Michelle's disapproval.

vt, you're got more game than this. When you go for false equivalence, and get the situational equivalence completely wrong, you at least have to show how it ended. Don't miss the punch line, that's the hilarious part. It's much worse than you describe. The dude is flirting with the Danish Prime Minister while his wife is sitting next to them. Michelle didn't disapprove, she was pissed off and made him move away from her.... I'm sure it didn't go well when they got to the limo.

I know you love your "they're all the same" meme but while Obama was at a funeral, it was a celebration of a man's life who overcame unbelievable odds, led his country out of apartheid and lived to be 95. Bush was attending the funeral for five men in the middle of their lives who were gunned down by a manic and left families without fathers. The situation matters and other than the dark suits, there is no equivalence. But just as a reminder to our married readers, there is no situation, no matter how celebratory where you flirt with another woman in front of your wife. None. Never. It doesn't matter who you are, at best you're still only the most powerful man in the world.

depends on what was happening in the east wing during the prior week, i.e. any prior state of hostilities and any desire to escalate.

As I said they're all idiots no matter the party. I pray for our countries future unless a miracle happens.

i think 3rd parties won't get many votes or make much difference this year. i think everybody hates one or the other main candidate so much more than they despise the other one that everyone will want to make sure their vote counts AGAINST the one they hate most.

Johnson, (and I think Weld), is really more of a Rockefeller Republican. With the exception of education, he did a good job here and left our state in good fiscal shape prior to the financial meltdown. Had our governor Pay-to-Play Richardson been in charge those 8 years it would not have gone well.

I like to do thought experiments to test where I really land on some of these choices. The first is, if I could only vote for Stein or Johnson, no other choice, for whom would I vote? Johnson.
2nd, If I had all four to choose from and I had the one and only vote, who would I choose for president? Johnson
3rd, If I could only choose between Johnson and Sanders, who would I choose? I would really have to listen to several debates between them.

It's an interesting predicament. As jk noted, there are two sides diametrically opposed. It's the revolution of 1800 with much less excellent choices. The great majority of people are voting against the other candidate.

Were it possible, I would be surprised if Johnson could not get well more than 50% as the 2nd choice of both parties. Given this scenario, rank choice voting might not work for him but I'd have to think more about this to have a solid opinion.
