Good article from 538. You can file this one under any number of 21 century memes but robots ate my job seems to fit. Shipping manufacturing to China was just a stop along the road to automation. As manufacturing is "reshoring", only about 25% of the jobs are coming back. Manufacturing up 20% in the US, manufacturing jobs up 5%. There's more here like this tidbit: Jobs are going away in North Dakota but unemployment isn't really falling because 90% of the unemployed leave. Sorry North Dakota, no surprise there.

And another link: Standard Textile opened a plant in Georgia and South Carolina. Manufacturing that would have taken 1,000 people now takes 200. Marriott just moved their $50MM bathroom towel account back to the US. According to Bill Marriott the cost is the same as it was in Jordan.
