The best ways billionaires can help us poor folk are to:
    1. Let us be to make our own decisions.
    2. Stay the hell out of our politics.
    3. Pay their goddamn taxes.

One cannot be free whilst begging for scraps on one's knees.

And if the billionaires end up with Trump vs. Sanders, who do they choose? A giant ego in the club that they don't trust or the guy who's at least a politician? Or maybe they don't give either of them a dime and focus all their energy on the Senate races to ensure they preserve a least 51-49. Then they stall until RBG dies and they put the Roberts machine back in action.

This gentleman likely does all three of these. Too bad you didn't listen to the video. The message is inspiring.

            So what?

Many businesses give money to state and local political groups. some to both parties.

Here is a person that is using his money to create inventions and innovations to help millions of poor people across the world with clean drinking water and energy to improve their standard of living and health.

He has pledged to give away 99% of his wealth.

And you're worried about political donations to both parties in his state?

Yes. I'm worried. That and the $2.5 million to the Republican Governor's Association. Presumably he's not an idiot, and he's getting something in exchange for his millions. Whatever it is he wants, I'm certain it's not a clean functioning Republic, increased democracy and transparency, or an improved life for the American middle class.

I'm worried that democracy doesn't really matter to enough people in the US as long as they've got a paycheck, a roof, enough food and can somehow hold down some other group or groups below their level. This election is a slam dunk for anyone in the bottom 60% who would like to do better, but they have to vote. Traditionally, almost half don't bother.

To support that bad habit, those on the far right are fond of suggesting both parties are exactly the same. But if you vote for a Republican Senator or Presidential candidate, you're voting for Citizens United. You're voting for the oligarchs. Good luck with that.

Depending on billionaires, even if not charitable trust tax dodges, is not really a good sign. It falls under the old saying:

Unhappy is the land that needs a hero

No one individual is really worth a billion $USD in any measure of actual utility ; and if there were anyone not expendable to that degree, it would be inventors and innovators, but they almost never become billionaires. Technology is a lousy store of wealth.
