    Incredible Opportunity

I’m putting out the call for brilliant entrepreneurs, who want to enroll in Singularity University’s GSP (Global Solutions Program).
The GSP is where you’ll take your existing startup idea, or a new one you create, and build it into a “Ten-to-the-Ninth (10^9+) plus” company -- A company that can positively impact the lives of a billion people in ten years.
This blog is about who should apply, how to apply and the over $1.5M in scholarships being provided by Google for entrepreneurs.
The program runs from June 18, 2016 until August 28th.
Applications are due: FEBRUARY 22nd 2016.
    What is Singularity University?

Eight years ago, Ray Kurzweil and I started Singularity University to search the world for the most brilliant, world-class problem-solvers, to bring them together and to give them the resources to create companies that impact billions.
The Global Solutions Program (GSP) is an intensive 24/7 experience at the SU campus in the NASA Research Center (Mountain View, CA).
During the 10-week program, 80 entrepreneurs, inventors, scientists, and engineers from around the world learn from our expert faculty about Infinite Computing, A.I., Robotics, 3D Printing, Networks/Sensors, Synthetic Biology, Entrepreneurship, (and more) and focus on building and developing companies to solve the Global Grand Challenges.
GSP participants form teams to develop unique solutions to GGCs, with the intent to form a company that will positively impact the lives of a billion people in 10 years or less.
Over the course of the summer, participants listen to and interact with top Silicon Valley executive guest speakers, tour facilities like GoogleX, and spend hours getting their hands dirty in our highly-advanced maker workshop
At the end of the summer, the best of these startups will be asked to join SU Labs where they will receive additional funding and support to take the company to the next level.
    Requirements for Admission:
    1. You’ve completed your undergraduate education or equivalent
    2. You are a proven entrepreneur
    3. You’re interested in the world’s grand challenges
    4. You’re driven, passionate and ready to change the world

If this sounds like you, apply here.
If it sounds like someone you know, forward them this blog.
    What’s the cost?

I am pleased to announce that thanks to a wonderful partnership with Google, all successful applicants will be fully subsidized by Google to participate in the program.
In other words, if accepted into the program, the GSP is free.
    How do I apply?
If you feel like you meet the criteria, start by filling out an application at: http://singularityu.org/gsp16
    Applications close February 22nd, 2016.
If you know of a friend or colleague who would be a good fit for this program, please share this blog with them and ask that they fill out an application.

Re: Free Scholarship To Singularity University. Application Deadline 2/22

I just caught the Singularity University website a few days ago browsing the cross roads of traditional executive education and private equity education(having jumped in the deep end here locally).

i think it's a great idea(I posted not long ago taking a thread off topic unfortunately):

My kids have been using Khan Academy every single day, two sessions a day, on top of normal school/weekend /holiday routine.

What a great resource for kids, parents, and adult learners.

I wonder if one effective answer will be more online corporate training, currently in house, being opened to the public and used as a tool for competitive recruitment and branded training with currency/relevancy.

I'm currently wait listed for Stanford GSB SEP, and in my research I'm wondering if companies like Google(with very well regarded and very Hugh hiring standards) would benefit from a cultural change to human resources and employee training?

Currently, being hired by Google or being Google Alumni(I've experienced this odd phenomenon as a very early Amazon employee) has high market and cachet value.

What if it was broadened to include "Google Thinker" or some other badge for those who did not make the Google employment cut, but passed thru the filter and "passed" with a rating?

Maybe the future will see the rise of external education opportunity tied in with Corporate human resources recruiting and human capital development?

Tertiary training that has more currency/relevancy in some form of mashup between corporate brands and development/government accreditation and funding/both internal user engagement and external user engagement and funding.

A more Americanized, Branded, and relevant tertiary education system to what Germany is doing with its workforce perhaps?
I like the idea of shorter, sharper, competitive, and highly targeted programmes that mix personal(relevant "rock star"), corporate, and public brands together to produce graduates with more immediately relevant output.

But there are only so many superstars to compete for.

If the world is broke down into say 5 tiers of performers, there seems to be a lot of effort being put into the top tiny slice of the top tier 1.

Probably for good reason as their efforts can be force multiplied exponentially thru zero marginal cost Internet products/services.

But while the rest of Tier 1 and 2 can't provide the same exponential return on investment, surely there are huge collective(if not as large individual) returns to be made with the same shorter, sharper, competitve(obviously a bit less so), and highly targeted programmes that mix personal, corporate, and public brands.

Mix this thin superstar layer idea with the German broad brush tertiary model.

It might only take 1-3 people to theorise the next greatest thing ever, but it will still require hundreds of university educated engineers and many thousands of tertiary educated people to best leverage it.

If this is a good thing for the very top of the pyramid, what's the equivalent thinking for further down the pyramid for "just" the above average?

It's as if the zero marginal cost Internet product/service has squeezed GE's Jack Welch "top 20%" into just 2%, or even 0.2%.

That's true across companies (say Google or Facebook vs Yahoo!) as well as for employees within the companies (see also). And even the biggest "free market" tech successes still signed illegal cartel deals against their own employees.

And now they want you to be open with your AI research, so they may find a way to leverage it, then maginalize you and use it against you. #HOPE #CHANGE #UTOPIA
