Immediately following Hurricane Sandy, with most gasoline stations closed since they didn't have electricity to run their pumps, gas was very hard to come by in some NY metro areas.

I recall reading a story in either the NY Post or Daily News about some entrepreneurs (read: knuckleheads) who were arrested because they were running a hillbilly version of this business....only, they spared the expense of proper gas containers and were using the orange buckets you can buy at home depot to hold the gas, and driving around in a box truck (maybe rented?) to reach customers.

dcarrig might come across a bit cynical in this, but I think he's spot on in spotting this pattern of abuse of the desperate.
    +1
eye dont think so, its the pattern of all these 'new economy' and 'sharing economy' bullshit biz 'opportunities' (that beat/ripoff the worker bees out of the .gov mandated compensation plans that were developed over decades.. (that helped CREATE THE MIDDLE CLASS IN THE FIRST GD PLACE)

methinks it seems to have started about the time we saw all the legal debate about that depends upon what your meaning of the word 'is' is...

however, delivering fuel directly to the customer/end user isnt exactly a 'new' biz model - construction cos and the boat biz have been doing it for quite some time

      found this
That pretty much sums it up, make the "contractor" carry the gasoline around in "their" car or truck, pay them peanuts and take most of the profit.

I am not sure it will be as profitable as Uber or Lyft though. How many times do you need to fill up? One to two times a month?

I know people who don't have cars and just use Uber all the time.

Now food delivery apps/companies are taking off like Favor which started in Austin. https://favordelivery.com/

They are a better bet than gasoline delivery.

I am trying to get more concrete business model info from this guy I know who is working for BoosterFuels.

my son lives in manhattan and now - instead of carrying grocery bags long distances - he gets all his groceries from freshdirect.

Probably another reason (besides density) for the "campus" requirement. In some other places, leaving your fuel door open would be asking for it.
