      It's also just a pledge for the future. I'd be much more impressed if they did something good with half their wealth today. Why do we need to wait 30+ years? Not enough things to fix yet?

      How impressed would you be if a non-billionaire told you at a dinner party: "Well, I don't give to charities, but when I die...lookout! Then, you'll see how generous I am."

      Yes, some of them are doing good things now. I'm just talking about the Pledge.

          A good starting point would be to make corporations and the massively wealthy pay taxes commensurate with taxes paid by everyone else. It's a simple place to start, everything you earn over $400+k, is taxed at 39.4% plus your state income tax. I find it interesting that you can't wrap your head around the idea that redistribution has been going on since 1980 but it's the poor giving to the rich in the US.
