This is what I find interesting:

The statement also didn't specify the project's expected number of fatalities due to substandard workmanship.

This is old news. Just run the train at 60% of the max designed speed and the train will never run off the tracks.

They could learn a lot from Americans on safety management though.

BNSF Doubles Train Speeds Through Miles City to 60 mph

July 30, 2015 | KULR|MILES CITY, Mont. (AP) – Officials in Miles City are unhappy after BSNF Railway lifted its self-imposed speed restrictions and is now moving trains through town at speeds of up to 60 mph.
Miles City Mayor Butch Grenz says town residents are upset that trains are moving faster than 30 mph. Miles City sits between the rail hubs of Glendive and Forsyth and BNSF’s rail bisects the town. Grenz notes one crossing doesn’t have crossing arms.

U.S. District Judge Robert Kugler on Friday set the new date after previously delaying the trial that was set to start this week as the two sides worked toward settlements.

but we wouldnt wanna be building any more PIPELINES, since they're 'way more dangerous' (esp to certain railroad's profits)

We'll see how fast the Chinese company can even get started once they encounter the alphabet soup of agencies that will be eagerly waiting to see how much trouble they can cause, all in the name of looking out for the American consumer. Or maybe they already have opened private bank accounts filled with Yuan for key people in those agencies. Still, there's the great American pastime, NIMBY pitching. I predict it will take about three times as long as it would take in China to break ground, and twice as long to build, not counting the stoppages for lawsuits, extra studies required by new laws and regulations, and of course, the many demonstrations protesting the possible endangerment of a hitherto unnoticed spider which is absolutely essential to the environment.
I feel so sorry for the poor Chinese.
