As many of you know i just traded off my Skoda vRs Turbo (VW Jetta ish) 1.8 Turbo for a new Ford Fiesta z-tec sport. As i have said this is a 1 litre 3 cyinder turbo with 140 bhp. So far a done 700 miles & its starting to get run in.
I bought the Ford because i am at present working 43 miles away (86 run trip) thus my mileage & running costs are a bit too much for a V 10 Viper. I seen 110 twice so far, no more as i don't wish to "hurt" the engine....its got amazing low down torque...i can do 35 in 5th gear @ 1500 rpm & just step on the gas & it gains speed.
Its mid-range pick up is also very good.....I say it cam match the out going vRS for 30-70 mph, ok it had 96,000 miles but it had not lost that much go. I read a test report that sez it can cover 30-70 in 8.2 secs (same as large 2 litre German turbo-diesels with 6 speed boxes).
Big one though is Gas Miles..........i used to do 27-28 mpg.....am doing 41 ish now.
