What is going on with iTulip the last few days? Is it slow or just my connection?

FWIW, Firefox had been giving me a warning when I was on iTulip that the flash plugin had a security vulnerability (doesn't it always). It just updated and now pages are loading faster here. Dunno know if there's a connection, but just saying... EDIT: Nope. Still slow. Spoke too soon.

            Al Capone's Vault

            For Shiny's pleasure:

"Finally, someone is being held accountable for the Iraq War. Now, it might not necessarily be the first person you'd want held accountable on that list. But never again will Brian Williams mislead this great nation about being shot at in a war we probably wouldn't have ended up in if the media had applied this level of scrutiny to the actual [bleep]ing war...

The media is right to go after Williams like this. Imagine if you let lies slip into news reporting. Like that huge pile of lies disseminated in say the New York Times and Meet the Press and sometimes in the New York times just so the administration could then go on Meet the Press and say this

[Cheney clip:]'There's a story in the New York Times this morning...that in fact he has been seeking to acquire...the kinds of tubes that are necessary to build a centrifuge and a centrifuge is required to take low grade uranium and enhance it...which is what you have to have in order to build a bomb.'

And the crazy thing is, the Bush Administration is the one who planted the story in the New York Times in the first place. The run up to the Iraq War was kind of beautiful in the evil efficiency of its media manipulation...I love now that now the media pretends that they must guard the crown jewel of their credibility when we've already seen it's 'Al Capone's Vault'."

                  expose of the lying.

You always hear about how warlike and aggressive people are.

Then why do governments have to use so much deception to bring wars about?

                    Sez Hermann the German:

"Why, of course, the people don't want war," Goering shrugged. "Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship."

"There is one difference," I pointed out. "In a democracy the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars."

"Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

Between us we cover both sides; if united just think of what could be accomplished

I do admire your concern for needless wars. Vietnam, Iraq, and Bosnia were unnecessary. You also care about the poor and middle class as I do. We just have slightly differing views of how.
I'm definitely towards the middle and you are probably too.

                      Peace.

                          Re: Al Capone's Vault

Hillary did the exact same thing when she claimed to have been under fire in Bosnia. If NBC fires Williams or he resigns because he is deemed unfit for his job, that means Hillary is also dead in the water.
                          That's your narrative.

As a wager I like the 120% return on the front runner and the 300%+ return on the runner up. I'd favor Hillary as the voting US population likes a divided government and Jeb is the only shot the Republicans have....but I do like his odds. But on a personal note, I really hope neither of them are elected.
