I don't know why libertarians are always assumed to be anarchists or Koch followers. I've been voting Libertarian since 1980 and I'm not either of those things.

Why don't the real libertarians come to Arizona? Winters are nicer and I'm already here.

The unique complexities of the 21st century makes these guy incredibly obsolete in todays world. All i hear from these guys these days are plans to take up arms over something that Obama did that they didn't agree with. i don't know where they find the time..

They are not against gay marriage or abortion. They do not agree with drug laws and feel marijuana and other drugs should be legal. They think guns should be legal and easily obtained for self defense. They believe in small, non intrusive government with few regulations.

They are not against gay marriage or abortion. They do not agree with drug laws and feel marijuana and other drugs should be legal. They think guns should be legal and easily obtained for self defense. They believe in small, non intrusive government with few regulations.

my comment re 'the anarchists' is aimed at the lamerstream media's portrayal of 'the movement'

they (the lib run op/ed depts) would much rather the herd focus on stuff like guns n drugs types than the political class - esp when it comes to WHY the State of New Hampshire - after going on 400years - STILL with a volunteer legislature and STILL with NO sales tax, NO income tax - but with 'high property taxes' (that forces the citizenry to PAY ATTENTION to what/how the political class spends THEIR money on) - which DENIES the party aparatchix from using the state/county treasury to BUY THE VOTES OF THE PARASITE CLASS and other games they play in states that have ALL THE ABOVE taxes and then some - AND STILL CANT SEEM TO MAKE THEIR DEAL WORK.

its why i STILL say that The Live Free or Die State is THE GOLD STANDARD of how the US.gov _should_ be run

this place has changed big time over the past 10 yrs. the hard nosed right/conservative 'live free or die' base is giving way to a softer libertarian 'live & let live' bunch. they don't get along all that well. one hates gays & the other takes a who cares attitude. the whole country is shifting in that direction anyhow. nh is no different.

All do respect, VT, I've got family up that way, and these are indeed the right-wing-radical anarchist types. They are destroying Keene. And they're whackos. My buddy's a big-R Republican machinist/biker running his own business, and he can't stand the "free-state" libertarians. Colbert did a good little clip on it last week.

Local citizens who have lived there for generations are fighting back. They're forming websites and organizing to stop the whacko libertarian kids that are carpet-bagging in.

Just read some of the little local stuff.

They throw this messed-up sort of mini-burning-man with assault weapons drug fest every year. There's more from Bezos' Bullhorn.

Anyways, these whackos don't believe that the law applies to them. The 20 year olds torture old lady crossing guards then post it on youtube trying to make them look evil. They do the same to cops, meter maids, and other sorts of regular people just trying to live their lives in town. They hate the government so much that they abuse locals just trying to get by. Look. They all give themselves the new last name "Freeman." It's to the point where the city manager is suing them for harassing locals.

The thing which confuses me about libertarians in their 20's is that a lot of them, unless they are rich, would be financially (and probably emotionally) devastated if the policies they advocate for actually came to pass. Many of these younger followers have a chip on their shoulder, but are no where near savvy enough to survive in a wild wild west libertarian utopia. Austrianism for these people is akin to slitting your own wrists, because the deflation alone would wipe them out before they ever saw the magical recovery phase. If you're rich though, its easy to be a libertarian...because as the dust settles, you can buy anything you want for pennies on the dollar...but a lot of these college-aged students can hardly rub two pennies together. Blows my mind.

That's nothing new. Totalitarian "communists" don't want to share they want to control how people share. Many have cooped "free market" to mean a market free from consequences or competition.

We have a horrible time discussing politics because most of the players are lying about their true intentions and most of the public is blissfully ignorant and has no clue what is really going on.

My son was laughed at in school when the teacher asked what caused inflation and he said "too much money". Neither the students nor the teacher even gave the answer a moment of consideration, and this is in a highly ranked IB school. (IB = International Baccalaureate ) The consensus in the class was that inflation was caused by increasing prices. Which about sums up the IB program in a nutshell, long on information, short on knowledge.
