  • Low vitamin D is the CAUSE of early death, 40% greater cancer risk

Although low vitamin D has long been associated with greater risk of cancer, pneumonia, and all-cause mortality, it was not known what was the cause and what was the effect, or whether this was due to correlation with some other condition. Now it seems clearer that low vitamin D is the cause.

Vitamin D deficiency is generally associated with an increased risk of poor bone health. However, recent studies have shown that low levels of this important vitamin also involve an increased risk of other diseases and higher mortality rates. For the very first time, a brand new scientific study has established a causal relationship between low vitamin D levels and increased mortality. The researchers have not only established a statistical relationship as in previous studies.
    ...

In the scientific study, which is based on the Copenhagen City Heart Study and the Copenhagen General Population Study, vitamin D levels were measured using blood samples from both studies, and specific genetic defects were examined. All participants were followed in the 100% complete Danish registers for mortality from 1976 until today.

$20 dollars a year to lower your cancer death risk 40%. I have been taking Vitamin D3 for 15 years at least 2,000 iu per day.

With everyone staying indoors more than they used to and then advised to wear sunscreen when outdoors, vitamin D deficiency is widespread. Get your blood level checked even if you think you're taking enough.

Recent blood work showed that taking 5000 IU per day I was so deficient, my doctor told me to raise it to 10,000 IU per day.

I don't know why I was deficient at 5000 IU. Low levels of Vitamin A can reduce absorption of Vitamin D, so maybe my A was low. I'm now taking an A supplement. Real Vitamin A, not beta carotene which has to be converted to A. Some people don't convert beta carotene properly. Or perhaps the brand (NOW) doesn't contain what the label said it did. So I've switched brands as well.

As long as my D levels are good I don't get the flu. Stopped getting flu shots. The latest recommendation for post-menopausal women is 8000 IU per day. The government's recommendation for 600 IU per day is criminal IMO.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Race isn't a paint job . Its an environmental adaptation. I have been saying Africans in northern climates must be going batcrap crazy for years unless they take the right steps. Same thing I say about blonds and red heads in California and down under. Skin cancer in a jiffy. And diet? There is a reason why corn was alkaline processed with wood ash and why wasabi goes with raw fish. There is a reason why Latvians don't have lactose intolerance. There is a reason why they ate fatty fish.

Indeed beta carotene != to vitamin A. And with all the low fat advice that is in fact, ill advised....

Beta carotene is converted to vitamin A in the walls of your small intestine in the prescence of bile salts and special enzymes. In order for beta carotene to be successfully converted you also need:1. FatBile salts are only released into your small intestine when you eat fat. No fat, no bile, no bile salts no conversion of beta carotene. This means that your fat free snack of a carrot or carrot juice, while loaded with beta carotene will simply not be converted to vitamin A.
