Re: FIAT (Cars) is getting KILLED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When taking our yearly family trip I usually rent a premium car; because my brother's business is paying for it ;)

This year's shockingly bad disaster was a Chrysler 300. What a piece of crap. It was even worse than the POS Cadillac I rented last year.

Now Tell me again why these companies were bailed out? GM and Chrysler useless cars from useless companies. A prime example of why government intervention in the free market is bad.

Chrysler does not have the market share and cash generating ability to properly fund development and refinement of new models to stay competitive. That has been the case since at least the 1970s, so it has lurched from crisis to crisis, and bailout to bailout over the decades.

As for GM, I have never been all that impressed with its uninspiring cars. But Mrs. GRG55 has a 2003 GMC Sierra 4X4 half-ton with more than 235,000 miles (382,000 kilometres) that, with one exception, has only had routine wear parts replaced. I have not even had the heads off the small block V-8. The exception is the 4-speed transmission (that she burned out hauling her horses) that was replaced by the local GM dealer service dept with an overhauled unit for $2,000 including labour. It's closing in on the 1982 Volvo 244 GLT that I clocked more than 450,000 km in.

This is the first GM vehicle in the family (all my other trucks have been Ford) and I wouldn't hesitate to buy her another one (but not until she runs this one past 500,000 km )

I'm afraid now you've jinxed it!

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

          Agreed
Like American Motors or Rover cars there comes a point when you simply don't have the critical mass to move forward. Jeep has future as a GM brand...........the rest should be left to DIE!
