What nonsense.
Firstly the 'data' regarding retirement pay is factually incorrect, as 5 minutes of googling and reading will reveal.
The premise that the salary and retirement costs for members of congress represents some meaningful fraction of the budget/deficit strikes me as pretty silly.
The idea that sociopaths and incompetents are drawn to politics because of the generous salary and benefits package is even more simpleminded.
And finally, the idea that if we make the job less attractive it will attract better people, certainly makes no sense to me.
