This story, and $2M remodel guy are all following the self serving logic of "Trickle Down" economics.

And as a friend of mine once said:
"Sure the money trickles down. But then, so does piss"

Did $34M yacht guy ever stop to think that perhaps the shipyard was failing because it was a badly run business and doomed to fail anyways. As you mentioned flint with the broken window fallacy, the first thing that came to my mind was "miss-allocation of resources"

Federal debt is borrowed from future generations. If it is squandered on consumption, it is effectively stealing from future generations

now just hang on a dang second - if this is all about "miss-allocation of resources" - then where does the entire supply chain on most consumer discretionaries belong ? - not to mention stuff like pro football - along with most of the rest of the pro ball-sports world - in particular their TAXPAYER FUNDED PLAYPENS ?

maybe the 100foot and UP club - never mind the 300foot and up bunch - who were ordering construction and then flippin em shortly after delivery - back in the go-go daze of the 'housing bubble' - with fabulous fort liquordale as one of the key recipients of all that goes along with em - but to imply that the boat biz is the poster-child for over-the-top consumption or "miss-allocation of resources" is to unfairly malign one of the worlds oldest and most significant professions (and pastimes of the working class, i would add - who buy/run the vast majority of all boats EVER built)
