    GM decied to sell/close down Opel/Vauxhall back a few years ago.........they then sussed that no one wanted to buy it & the cost of shutting those plants was MEGA. Thus they decied to KEEP Opel/Vuxhall.

    However they didn't do ANY R+D on new models thus we are offered these warmed over 10-15 year old platforms..........

    I'm just a car dillatant. But I once read an article in the economist about how US manufacturers change models much faster than BMW, Volvo etc. This is a marketing thing, not driven by engineering needs. And it is expensive---since new plastic and sheetmetal parts have to be tooled for. Keeping a model or "look" around for a while is not bad in my opinion, assuming the car is highly functional.

      Volkswagen would agree.

      Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
