Ok, seriously, was this just Iran's doing? You'd think Saudi Arabia who provided a large majority of the terrorists in 2001 would be more sensitive about this date.

Is someone sending a message here? Honestly, there is no way this was just a coincidence.

Should the Japanese avoid any important meetings on December 7, and the British on August 24 (1814)? Why stop there. Maybe the Germans should refrain from holding official meetings on September 1 for fear of offending Poles?

Don't get me wrong. I am an admirer of many things about America, living in a region with more than its share of anti-American sympathizers. But you have to realize that life goes on, and the rest of the world, for the most part, does not put the same importance on 9/11 as America. Perhaps this is due to antipathy towards the USA because of their view of the policies of the current Washington administration; or perhaps it's just that people elsewhere have their own historical sorrows to recall.

Finally, although the Iranian government well deserves its odious reputation, don't forget that it was ordinary people that gathered on the streets in Tehran on the evening of September 18, 2001 and held a public candelight vigil for the victims of the terror attacks exactly one week earlier. To my knowledge nothing similar occurred anywhere in the Arab part of the Middle East.

I was going to ask the same question seeing as how this is December 7th. At some point September 11th has to be just another day, instead of tip-toeing all over the calendar afraid of pissing someone off.
