    Re: The Tesla Put

Imagine a world where we grow corn and turn it in to fuel to replace Oil.

We mandate that gasoline companies must add this corn ethanol to every gallon of gasoline- which results in gas being 10-15% less effect which leads to people burning more gasoline.

As they say 'You can't make this up"

I think there's a nice Venn diagram of "real reasons" that apply - I chose to ignore them all a long time ago.

Heck - didn't even want to get into the "real cost" of oil if you add in all the MIC-spending all over Libya, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, Egypt, Syria, Ukraine, NATO ... where the US is always happy to have Canada's meager but eager contributions.

never mind what the cost of sabotage by our very own resident luddite brigade of our 100% paid-for, 100% owned-outright, 100% domestically-sourced ACE-IN-THE-HOLE energy source (hint: that N word that none in that camp can even bring themselves to utter, unless in protest) has cost US ??
(hint: all and i do mean ALL of the problems; from the environment thru to the disaster known as 'the budget', industrial capacity under-utilization, JOBLESSNESS - oh and dont forget ENDLESS WAR FOR OIL, as all them trade-imbalances go toward funding the islamic whacko brigade's efforts to wipe US out - but nobody seems to want to talk about that, either...)

And yes lektrode - eventually we'll end up on diesel-hybrids with solar-battery charging panels in both the roof & hood panels.
and yes FC - i also happen to be a supporter of that stuff TOO - esp when the PV is on OUR roofs, vs subsidizing 'utility-scale' projects, that keep 'the power' under the control of the conglomerates, while doing zilch to eliminate the wasted juice of the transmission line-losses, stepping-up and stepping-down of voltage etc etc etc - that keeps the bonuses flowing to the c-suite types

never mind the fact that our topsoil resources have been depleted by over 90% since they started tilling the stuff in the great plains
(after wiping out 99whatever% of the buffalo that DIDNT need corn/antibiotics and feedlots to thrive
adding: whos steaks/roasts/burgers are just as tasty, if not tastier ;)

yep - see my comment (#3) above

even if i do happen to also think that very few other industries have made bigger contributions to our mutual standards of living, given the vast resources that are made available to the citizenry at otherwise very affordable prices - vs say.. the cost/gal of bottled water ?

or ANY of the i-junk thats become so.. 'critical' to our modern lifestyles...
            /sarc
(even as it causes 10s of THOUSANDS of mfg jobs - that created the middle class in the 1st place - to be offshored)

There's a lot of illogical things going on, no point wasting more time over Keystone when you've got ready market in Asia (Korea, China, Japan, etc).

What's the story behind the Northern Gateway Oil pipeline?
