Honestly, I think all of this is backfiring immensely for Russia. It was an insanely stupid move that would have gained them little and lost them a lot no matter what. And now they are on the verge of even losing what they planned to get in the first place.
Now, no one is going to respect any treaty that Russia has with them. Why would you? They have shown they would renege on it at a moment's notice. They have shown how little nuclear disarmament means to them and how if you don't have any nukes, you are a sitting duck to them. That just means countries are going to want them more, which weakens Russia's position. They are also going to drive other former USSR states into the arms of the EU and USA because they will fear the same thing happening to them. And they have erased any soft power they had by doing this.
Really, all of this for Crimea and possibly Eastern Ukraine? What a farce.
