    Probably not UPS - the internal power supply. Try going out and buy a new internal power supply:

    Make sure the pins match your motherboard (there's quite a few versions) and the wattage is enough.

      With your suggestions printed and in tow, the deed is now done.

      Lots of dust, now gone. Car vacuum proved to be the best tool. Small, non-metallic with great attachments like a nozzle that's less than a quarter of an inch in diameter. When I had all the reachable dust pulled out I used the compressed air with vac to finish the job.

      Lit right off, with a peculiar sequence. New programs added! When I checked it seemed to think that was 80% of the existing programs. No internet connection, which proved false. Etc. Standard stuff, I assume, following a major cleanup.

      Fans are whisper quiet now, without the load change roars.
