I think it's called JAWBONING - one of the most awesome and sophisticated tools in the Federal Reserve arsenal.

When they wheel out the formidable "jaw-bone", Americans must abandon all hope, for the FED has just warned them that (despite the mighty river of green paper which they see flowing before their bulging eyes) interest rates are going to be "unrelentingly FIRM".

The "JAWBONE" means that the FED can be counted on to roll out the beloved traditional "knight in shining armor" to do a prance around the carousel. This prance is an awe inspiring ritual. Have you ever seen it? It's when they spear the slithering monster of inflation before the world's awestruck eyes. Always gets the crowd up on their feet in a standing ovation.

Of all the Federal Reserve tools, this one is among the MOST FORMIDABLE. Even those five-story-high wooden siege-turrets full of archers, which the fierce Roman Legions used to storm the forts of the Gauls, the Iberians, the Huns and even the half-savage blue-painted tribesmen of Brittannia Major in the olden days, are no match for the FEDERAL JAWBONE.
