  • Global CPI info, now crowd sourced!

Ran into this today, thought I'd share... Theoretically, this has the potential to really wake some people up. It bypasses the need for the average person to first of all even try to understand the concept of CPI, or how their government defines it (and continuously re-defines it to suite their needs/propaganda), and get right to the meat and potatoes of the issue: How does my city compare in terms of cost of living to other cities in the world? Which then begs the question in many cities: Wow, wtf is really going on with my city/country/government?

"Numbeo is the world’s largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwide. "

Map: http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/gmaps.jsp (click on a "pin", then click the city name for details)

The main website [http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/] also has all kinds of other crowd sourced data (property prices, health care, crime, etc)

Numbeo provides current and timely information on world living conditions including cost of living, housing indicators, health care, traffic, crime and pollution. 965733 prices in 3826 cities entered by 114033 users (information updated 2013-10-18)
