Re: Somebody is going to make a mistake...........
Why else do you think we have troops in Jordan and Saudi Arabia? Still, with any luck, Obama will not be able to run a war simply on his own say so...Bush only got away with it because of high support from the masses, at least at the beginning. Of course, we could always have another 9/11 to set another war up that would get American support, at least for long enough to get the next war going.
I truly hope that the UN cannot figure out who did what gassing, if it was done at all...I no longer trust my eyes or my ears when the MSM are reporting, and photography is so well faked these days...just like government statistics.

Re: Somebody is going to make a mistake...........
Well it looks like Obama has come to a decision, and it is to move forward with strikes....However, he is seeking congressional approval
Will Congress let this happen? I can't imagine any of them voting in favor of this. They would only go down the sinking ship with Obama, and they have elections on the horizon. Way too many Americans against this war for Congressmen/women to think this is a good call

1. The Senate will pass the resolution and send it to the House.
2. House Dems will overwhelmingly vote in favor of the resolution and Obama/Pelosi/Reid will work with Boehner and his electoral maps (i.e. which races are thought to be close in 2014) to *miraculously* get just enough Repubs to back it as well.
Dig into the details of the poll that made national news over the last few days:

Not sure .................................................. .. 8
Q8X Now, more specifically, if U.S. military action in Syria were limited to air strikes using cruise missiles

Re: Somebody is going to make a mistake...........
Someone else said this here: "What if China gasses it's people? Do we attack China?"
I'd add, What about Russia?
Israel using gas to avoid being overrun?
Iran? Think hard on this one, especially if they get a nuclear capability.
Maybe we should ask the moderate Arabs to create their own regional force to deal with Syrian type problems. I do understand this is an age old Sunnii-Shiite problem, and that it could become a major war if this action were taken. How would the rest of the world react to that? Mideast oil may not be as important to us for the next few years, but for the rest of the world it's very important.

Don't count your grenades before they are thrown...It's only a committee vote.
When the bombs actually hit Syrian soil and America is Fighting with the terrorists against Assad, and a legitimate government, then and only then will any of this war bullcrap be real. Until then, it's just another convenient 'Big Lie', and nothing has changed except the headlines.
And please recall...we have ObamaCare Signups in October with nothing to sign up for; scandals with evidence accululating; a derivative crash pending; Summers withdrawing from the race for the Fed Chair; a budget battle, and the reaction of the markets to Yellen and whatever Bernanke says tomorrow...etc.
And if you don't want a war, for heaven's sake, call Boehner's office, and your House Representative and tell them no on Syria. It might not help, but you will at least know that you tried to stop it all from happening. You also might call your Senators...Mine are Boxer and Feinstein, so when I call they don't care, but you might actually reach someone sensible.
