Oil independence could happen. Remember that oil independence simply means we produce enough for our own needs. Well in 2020 most Americans may not be able to afford to operate a car, or own/rent a house. We'll be sitting in our public housing eating EBT food watching the latest reality show with no particular place to go and no deadlines to meet. In other words demand can shrink to be met by current levels of production or less, rather than have production rise to meet current demand levels. It will be interesting to see how much damage the real economy takes when Obamacare is fully implemented in Jan. 1. I wonder if the markets will keep going up while the real economy craters. If you're a historian or just enjoy watching things happen this is a good time to live. Sort of like being around when the Roman Empire collapsed. Just be sure to keep your head down so you won't be noticed.
