No no, there may be many princes but Alwaleed is the head of Kingdom Holdings and runs a lot of the show. His two children from his first wife (who was one of the daughters of King Saud) are probably in line to succeed King Abdullah perhaps at some point.Originally posted by BadJuju View Post

Alwaleed is right in the short term sense, but I do wonder if that really matters even in the medium term. The 2nd and 3rd world is increasing its energy consumption - including oil - dramatically.
A reduction in US and European demand doesn't look like its going to create a global glut in oil, although it might decrease Saudi revenues for a few years. On the other hand, the less Saudi oil is sold now, the more money it will bring in later.
Most likely Alwaleed is just pushing this so he can get some of his own pet projects funded.Comment
