Politics apparently does make strange bedfellows. The takeaway from this story is twofold: that there is no political will anywhere in any party to control welfare spending for anybody, and gridlock prevents any real reform of anything. In the words of the Mogambo Guru, "We're freaking doomed...doomed." The group of progressives who see the way to the future going through a breakdown of the current system from intentional overloading must be pleased. But will they be pleased when their crisis point occurs and all h--l breaks loose?
