I couldnt resist saying "that's why I bought an AK". But I was just kidding, I was very close to buying one myself at one point. But at half the price I bought an AK-74 type instead. The Range AR was filthy of course. Not exactly the best way to encourage a customer to buy one though.
There are HEAPS of manufacturers of both AK and AR...so poor manufacturing could be a problem.
Lousy magazines(or those ridiculous and complex large capacity magazines.
Lousy ammunition.
Basic care/maintenance.
What's interesting is prices on stuff:
Not only have retailer stocks evaporated from the boom in sales, but it also includes magazines and ammunition........everything is gone.
And pricing for what is there has gone nutty.
Pricing for anything AR/AK related(firearms, magazines, ammunition) is like internet shares 1999 or house prices 2005.

Re: 6-guns in the Capital building ?
Fantastic video! Really heartening to see citizens refusing to bow down.
The politician kept saying that debating the law was "not what we're here to do," when that was obviously what the citizens were there to do. He kept repeating that they were there to tell the citizens what the law was and what the citizens would have to do to comply. Did not go over well.
"What was your oath of allegiance?"
"You're all talking about responsible gun owners, and that's what we have a lot of here, but we don't have responsible politicians."
Asking the sheriff if he would have his officers carry only seven rounds: "No."
Sheriff: "I think that everybody in this room probably shares the same concerns... [we want] reasonable assurance that the law won't change again tomorrow... If this can happen how can we have faith that next year it won't be bolt action rifles?"
Talk of non-compliance and jury nullification.
"This is the same slippery slope that the Germans did. If you backed up 60 or 70 years ago, and if you put a brown shirt on Cuomo when he was on television, he would look just like Hitler."
"I want you to uphold our Constitution as it was written."

Re: 6-guns in the Capital building ?
why is it that a stupid pencil neck lawyer decides how many bullets in a clip is enough for me? Do they have
tactical training? ever been in a gun fight? even read about gun fights?
The ultimate decision on the number of rounds is made by the guy shooting at me.
I want (his clip capacity) + 3. that ought to do it.

Re: Gun Control Anyone?
Who pays the politicians when the run for office?
Who pays for their lifestyles when they leave?
Who gives jobs to their family members?
etc...
you can find the answer to your own questions, if you look. Good luck!

The top 5 PACs in terms of spending includes the National Beer Wholesalers Assn and the Operating Engineers Union. (source: http://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/index.php)
Some of the top revolving door firms include DLA Piper, Ernst & Young, and (again) GE. (Source: http://www.opensecrets.org/revolving/top.php?display=D)
I also looked at Super PACs and contributions by industry.
I find it hard to make a leap to "puppet masters" whose goal it is to "disarm the population." Am I missing something?

Gabby Giffords, the Aurora, Colorado shooting, Sandy Hook... all young lone gunmen in their early 20's with no history of violence, some with no shooting experience whatsoever suddenly conducting very efficient massacres. Eyewitnesses, even 911 and police dispatch recordings report seeing accomplices, but those reports are later deleted from official versions of the stories. After the shootings the shooters, if they survive, show typical signs of brainwashing. They look drugged, disoriented and/or report having no recollection of the events they are accused of. Deleted and fabricated Facebook pages, confessional writings conveniently appearing to link them to the crimes...
Ever hear about Project MKUltra? It was a real, documented mind-control project of the CIA that used hypnosis, drugs, electroshock and torture to make victims susceptible to mind-control. The purpose was to create human weapons- spies and disposable assassins who could be triggered by "handlers" without their conscious awareness or volition. After explosive congressional hearings on MKUltra the government ordered the project shut down. But I don't believe those things are ever really killed, they just go underground. As the dad said in the movie Independence Day: "You don't actually think they spend $20,000 on a hammer, $30,000 on a toilet seat, do you?"
Here's an article about the numerous anomolies and inconsistencies with the Sandy Hook shooting.
Look at the links I posted here to interviews with victims' families in the days after Sandy Hook. They look totally staged.
How could the Aurora, CO theatre shooter James Holmes, an unemployed medical student, afford $20,000 worth of exotic weapons gear? Why would he quietly surrender to the police without firing a shot, then warn them that his apartment was booby-trapped to explode? Interestingly, Holmes was a doctoral student of neuroscience.
This page contains video of interviews with eyewitnesses present at the theatre shooting, claiming that the shooter had accomplices working with him in the theatre. No one actually saw Holmes do the shooting. They saw a shooter whose face was completely covered. Someone who was proficient with firearms. Holmes had no shooting experience. Holmes was found afterwards in the parking lot in a dazed condition, where he surrendered without resistance to police. Upon interrogation he quickly warned them that his apartment was wired to explode. Doesn't sound like a cold-blooded killer.
I try not to fall for hoaxes and baseless conspiracy theories, and it's frankly embarrassing to discuss such a serious topic when the sources are YouTube videos and links to anonymous blogs. But the established news media is not doing its job. Not since Watergate have reporters seriously questioned authority. They report what they're told, but they don't question what they're told.
Mega posted a frikkin' outrageous video about why bloggers and YouTube have become the investigative journalists of our day.

Re: Gun Control Anyone?
And who controls those companies/groups/pacs/media companies?
Personally, if I were king I would want to disarm the population. The U.S. is in for a world of hurt after the dollar dies. While arming homeland-security and militarizing police may be enough, it would certainly be helpful to get rid of citizens' guns as well.
However, in this case, I think the puppet masters are distracting the population from something else.
