  • Twinkie anyone ?

Not even sure how to comment on this other than that you have to be very very sick to do this to 18,000 people in such an economic situation.

Twinkie-maker Hostess continues to screw over its workers. The company is in the process of complete liquidation and 18,000 unionized workers are set to lose their jobs. More troubling – they could lose their pensions.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal , Hostess’ CEO, Gregory Rayburn, essentially admitted that his company stole employee pension money and put it toward CEO and senior executive pay (aka “operations”). While this isn't technically illegal, it's another sleazy theft by Hostess executives - who've paid themselves handsomely while running their company into the ground. Just last month, a judge agreed to let Hostess executives suck another $1.8 million out of the bankrupt company to pay bonuses to CEOs.

When you live in a day and age where a guy like Jon Corzine can MF'n screw you Globally and still walk the streets, and banksters NEVER go to jail, but a ghetto kid will do hard time for robbing a liquor store, why would anything surprise you anymore?

The world would be a better place without their manufactured chemical crap. . I do not pity the 18000 who lose their jobs. Their product kills.

Wow, that's harsh. It's not only 18,000 factory jobs, it's also the ancillary jobs that are now killed, too. Parents don't have the luxury of being choosy when it comes to putting beans on the table and keeping a roof over their family's head. If any of them refused to work on moral grounds, would you honor them? or resent them for being deadbeats, making you pay for their foodstamps and welfare checks?

As for the chemical crap? Blame the CEOs who chose the recipes and the customers who bought it, not the poor schleps on the assembly line.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

It is harsh, but the truth hurts. They sell an addictive, unhealthy substance that leads to death. They know it too. Nope, I have no sympathy. Just like when the military industrial complex needs to shrink. I will have no sympathy for the 'workers' who produce death machines as well. Dear Lord, a cigarette company had to lay off workers! The evil!

These are the same people who go to church every week and listen (I assume) and pretend to follow the teachings in the bible. The hypocrisy is beyond belief. Everybody has a choice. They chose to work at producing death. Maybe 40 years ago it was not understood. It is now. They know it. We know it. And we should be happy that the Twinkie will die. Likely, it will be made to the same exacting standards in a Chinese factory somewhere. They will still be as equally poisonous.

But, it is yet another example of FIRE destroying American companies. There are have been a lot of bankruptcies over the past 5 years of American icons. It is certainly depressing. I am especially glad the central government did not bail out the Twinkie. So, some good things are happening.

The loss of pensions is criminal. They may need to find where the people live and exact their own justice. That will help improve the country greatly. Remember the story of the Chinese slimy business owner who was ripped apart (for real) by his exploited workers? A few incidents like that would be a good deterrent. So, don't think I do not blame FIRE. I just have accepted the fact that they own us, the courts, the police, and everything else. These workers will suck it up, take their 50% pension cuts, and whine for the next 20 years. Life will go on fine for the ceo's.
