Notes and Sources
The civilian noninstitutional population (those over 16 who are not institutionalized or serving overseas in the military) in the labor force. Total represents the total number of civilian noninstitutional population in the labor force, i.e., working, looking for work, or intending to return to work after time off. Percent represents that total as a percentage of the entire civilian noninstitutional population.
Data are available at the state level and go back to 1976.
