Man sues wife over 'ugly' baby

    Sunday, October 28, 2012

A man in China was perplexed and furious when his jaw-droppingly beautiful wife and himself, who he obviously believes to be quite attractive as well, somehow produced an 'ugly' baby.

Jian Feng has since divorced and sued his wife for being ugly, winning around $150,000 in a lawsuit.

Feng was reported to be absolutely in love with his wife and the couple were happy to fall pregnant soon after marrying, but when their baby girl was born that is when problems arose.
Born bearing no resemblance to either of the parents, Feng decided the baby was 'incredibly ugly' and initially expected his wife had cheated.
As it turns out, his wife didn't cheat, but had undergone $90,000 worth of intense plastic surgery to change the way she looked, and had neglected to share this with her husband.
On discovering this, Feng divorced and sued his wife, claiming she got him to marry her under "false pretences".
The judge sympathised with the betrayal Feng was feeling, awarding him a significant sum in the divorce.

It is an interesting, but unsurprising story. Thanks for sharing

That headline made it sound like a ridiculous judgement, but after reading the article, perhaps not so much. Now maybe he can use the $150,000 and donate $90,000 of it to his daughter so she can look like her mom after her surgery ;-)
      Warning: Network Engineer talking economics!

Who the hell has $90k lying around for plastic surgery? This has to be China's version of Hollywood drama. I'm sure all the peasants in Guizhou really care about this nonsense.

$90k is perhaps on the extreme end, more like for a series of face change op.

But minor jobs are very common in China. I suspect more than half of young women in China go through some sort of plastic surgery.

Any basis or proof of this?

I don't think there is stats for China since illegal procedures are common. But in Korea, 1 in 5 women below 50 years old - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...rocedures.html

Yup, it's widely known in Asian circles that Korea is the most plastic surgery country in the world, Brazil is second... China is still way too poor for it, just ask all the workers at Foxcon...

Edit: on a side note, for South Korea, companies like Samsung have huge credit card operations that are linked to the mafia, so those girls, often with university degrees, can't pay their debt, be it from plastic surgery or otherwise, gets sold on the black market and end up in brothels in California and elsewhere... Another option is to sell out to music labels at a young age with contracts that are more than 10 years long, and work 14 hour days for those 10+ years (vis-a-viv Girls Generation and other k-pop bands)... but at least they achieve some fame instead of ruined lives... It's a very interesting place if you ask me...

Yes, but unlicensed operators can charge very cheaply.

I mean, what's the difference between a plastic surgeon and a poultry butcher? Anyone who can butcher a chicken nicely can do a surgery with enough practice (and guinea pigs). You don't even need a college education.

Here's a quick search on prices charged by a Chinese hospital. Do bear in mind that these are Westerner prices, locals will pay less.

                  Breast Augmentation

Also known as Mammaplasty, breast implant surgery or boob job surgery is intended to enhance the size, form and feel of a woman’s breasts; or to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. The cost for high quality Chinese made silicone gel filled implants at our Shenyang hospital is $1,450 US Dollars

Here's a quick comparison for the cost in the US:
