  • The question Max Keiser will not answer

    Good Eveing
1st of all i want to make it 100% clear that this is NOT a personal attack on Max. I very much like Max, he is one brigh-test most intresting people i ever heard. I am delighted that he is to marry the lovely Stacy & i wish all the very best to them.........

    However
Some years ago his "Maxuims" did promise me (Mega) what we call a TOB (Thing of beauty). This is refance he made to what we both saw as a very soon to happen collaspe in the UK £. Sadly for both of us it didn't happen.......in fact the £ has got stronger in the years i been waiting.

So, its with some dis-a-point-ment that i find tonight Max is "Once again" saying that the £ is going to get killed......very soon......anytime now...ish

Please Oh Please will someone ask him, nail him down on WHEN this wonderful thing ......this "Thing of beauty" is to like happen????????????

    Mr. Mega,

Today I hopped in my time machine and took a trip to the future to check on the GBP/USD cross. The machine is never wrong and never lands in an alternate reality or parallel universe (I have my suspicions though when I see what Lady GaGa wears).

That would be Pollyanna. She is a naive girl that always tries to find the simplest way to make things work. She is not imaginative and she is frequently wrong, but always optimistic. I like Polly quite a bit. That is why I always try to put her opinion in my charts. Today her simple curve is not doing a very good job of matching past data ( only 0.49 on a scale of 0 to 1 ). She is however doing better than me at 0.23 . Damn time machine flaking out on me.

Pound went from 220 yen to the pound to about 120 to the pound, effectively dropping by about half against the yen over the last five years or so.
When it dropped from 220 to 180, all the Brits in Japan were going nuts and changing all their yen into pounds. I spent hours explaining to one of my friends why it was going to go down to something near 100 something yen to the pound. He hesitated, but since he already had a lot of pounds in the UK, he held on to his yen. He is happy now and buys me drinks. However, I could not and cannot convince him to buy gold... he is just drowning in cash earning interest that is not enough to keep up with inflation... Oh, well, there is only so much I can do...
Since the pound is so weak against the yen for the moment, I often buy antiquarian books and stuff from ebay in the UK.

Where is the GBPUSD projection graph above from? Is there a link with an article discussing it?

I think it's Global's own creation. It's kinda scary. I know the pound is doomed but unlike Mega don't really want to be around when it happens.

But when you read statements like the below I wonder how it can have gone on this far.

In August, the Bank actually bought more gilts (£14bn) than the Treasury issued (£10.1bn). So far this financial year, the Bank has bought £62.5bn worth of gilts, almost two thirds of the £100bn or so issued. Total gilt purchases by the Bank have reached £365.7bn out of a total gilt market of £1.164 trillion. The state now owes 31pc of the national debt to itself.
Quite incredible how sterling defies gravity in this situation.

In general it has not been well received here.
