I've done pretty well at buying in at 'bottoms.' Unfortunately, I had to sell my 2008 gold. Doing well with the PMs purchased this year, though.

                  Re: Gold Getting KILLED !!!!!!!!!!!

December Comex GOLD is sitting right on its First support. I believe it will trade lower early next week,
and if we're lucky it will drop to about 1735 or so. At $1,730 it's a buy for those who have little or no gold.
However, should it open lower, trade down below 1738 and THEN rally back to close higher, the correction is likely over.

IF it closes below 1720 it could easily see long-liquidation that drops it to about 1670 - 1680.
Below there the Central Banks will likely step up and add to their holdings.

The Long-Term trend is sideways to higher and deserves the benefit-of-the-doubt unless or until we get two daily
                  closes
below the 200-Day Exponential Moving Average (
Blue line on the attached chart).

I thought that gold had just crossed the golden cross where the 50 and 200 day averages cross over. That should mean higher prices in the future. However, I expect gold to get below $1700 for a very short period before moving up. I hope that I am wrong and that it goes no lower than $1720.

They did. The 50-day Exponential (bright green line on the chart I posted) crossed above the 200-day Exponential moving average (bright blue line) on September 7th.

                        Re: Gold Getting KILLED !!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Raz. I will be a buyer and start adding DGP (about 6% of portfolio) to my PM core holding once we retreat 5% in $Gold. That should take DGP to 50 which may be new support.
My strategy is start to maximize holding in those assets that will maintain value in next down draft. For instance though i think coal will increase long term, it will be hit hard due to its cyclical nature- so i sold my coal holding with modest profit. I will come back in once this market purges its excess

Gold at £1090, a whole 1% off the month's high.
